Hi, about XBMC i can't help you, everything is working fine in my device...

If you need root, you can do with moroboro and kingo root.

OK thanks, I have successfully upgraded the ROM, but sadly still no display out put, no boot screen, no nothing, but blue light is on on the unit. Any ideas?

Anyone managed to get xbmc working on these things? boots first time, but nothing after that so, reinstall it and same again.... any ideas??
