What do you expect from a TV Box video review?

Lots of reviews, unboxing, tests and so on are published every day. In a post we can share a lot of detailed info, even we have been talking about 4K resolution with pictures showing our TV pixels and comparing devices.

There are lots of things can not be show easily in a video, so finally all videos are about to same, unboxing, connecting and a play a little with the system. We can not clearly show video quality or another things in a video, even we take a 1080p, we can not show the really 4K resolution in sites like youtube.

So, I would like to know, what do you expect from a TV Box review in video?

I would like to see both wifi and ethernet speed test maybe compared to a laptop or PC in the same area. So many of these boxes suffer from network slow downs would be nice to see in a review how good/bad the box is in this regard. Also remotes usually suck too nice to see a good test of remote functionality...........all I can think of for now.

What I would like to see in a review video...

Why do people go to listen to a review? Answer, they don't want surprises. Say a box doesn't play AVI's in Xvid. Well, it's a common codec, and one would assume it would play it due to it's age. If a person has all there videos in AVI. Converting them is not an option. You see, say what is missing or wrong with a box that most would assume otherwise.

Don't go on and on about 4K. It's too new and most don't have that TV or don't wish to download that massive of a file. I don't even want to download 1080p. Streaming add-on's in Xbmc is a feature in xbmc and not a box feature.

Be honest. Say things like, "The menu looks cartoonish, and pastels are a bad button color choice." I haven't found the first menu that looked good out of all the boxes I've seen on you tube. If the box performs poor in Xbmc while going through your movie titles, say so.

Don't just read the instruction manual. Notice where is box is lacking from it's competitors.

Talk in the best English you can, and have a outline written off to the side to remind yourself the points you want to talk about.

Although showing the outside of the box and its ports is important; showing it in action is the most important thing you will do in your video. Most people can care less about chip specs if the box can't load the movie or TV covers fast in plex or xbmc. It's all about Function!

Have good lighting. Hook your box up to the TV and show it navigating a movie or tv list. Personally I can care less about the streaming add-ons, but I see so many reviewers spend forever on that.

Does the box have support? Is it easy to root? Is it easy to fix if there is an issue? I can't stress enough about support via forums.

Can this box be hack to do cool things? Can it boot to xbmc or plex? Can the main menu change skins?
Talk about the boxes that are the overall best, and how they stack up to the review box.

Talk about the price.



As a person that did his homework, and ordered a box only to return it. I can't can't find a box that is for me. Why? Lack of critical information and honestly in reviews I saw on you tube.

I hope this helps and I hope to one day find a box that meets my requirements.
