    ug802 ClockWork MOD in the HOUSE!

    Hey folks... today I finished a fully working clockwork MOD for the UG802.

    You do not need to flash a FULL ROM to flash CWM. Your data will be saved as long as you do not erase NAND with the tool.

    SEE THE README IN THE DOWNLOAD FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS!

    Here are the highlights:

    WARNING #1:
    If you install this, you will NO LONGER be able to flash ROMs using update.img on SDcard.
    THIS must be flashed using the RKANdroid tool! To go back to stock ROMs with stock recovery, you must use either the RKbatch tool with update.img or the RKAndroid Tool with my 1.4 ROM.

    WARNING #2:
    Most RK30 devices I know of all have a SDcard corruption issue!
    It appears to be very common and nothing I can fix. It is NOT a CWM issue.

    Features in Finless ClockWork MOD.

    1) I injected the USB KO module so both a mouse and/or a keyboard can be used to manipulate CWM menus.
    BE CAREFUL using the mouse! It is touchy but does work! Small movements with the mouse please.
    If you move it around too much wait till the menus stop moving and try again with SMALL movements!
    Keyboard support is using the arrow keys and return key for selection.

    2) This is a fully working CWM but see warning above about common External SDcard issues!
    Because of this RK30 bug, I reccomend backing up to INTERNAL SDcard and then copy the backup to external SDcard.
    Restoring from External SDcard has no issues.

    3) This CWM also suports updates via ZIP files. I have tested it.
    But BE CAREFUL using ZIPs made for other devices.

    Attempting to Flash CWM

    I am following all of the steps in the read me, but I can not get the flash toolkit to recognize the device. No matter what I do (switching between MTP and mass storage) it will not recognize it. I want to mention that I followed deadhp1's instructions on rooting with positive results. Can I just d/l CWM rom manager and flash via that since I have root?

    Is the fact that I have already rooted causing issues with the toolkit recognizing the device?

      No you cannot. You are replacing recovery here. Understand that once you do that you will NEVER be able to go back unless you figure out how to get the PC drivers installed!

      I can make a ROM update.img that will replace recovery with the CWM version BUT if you cannot get the flash tool to work, you will be forever STUCK on this ROM and CWM. NEVER can you go back using update.img.

      So this is the reason I have not made a update.img version! I think you need to work on getting the drivers installed so you can flash with the tool before even attempting to use this CWM.

      Some tips:
      1) Make sure your hooked to a mother board USB port and not going through a HUB of any kind!
      2) If your BIOS supports "high speed USB" turn that off in the BIOS
      3) Unplug as much other USB stuff as you can

        By the way... since I am here for a few hours, if you know how to do remote PC or skype, I am willing to help you get the drivers installed live.

          CWM Install problems

          Thank you, but I would like to keep trying for a little while (I find it best to learn if I fail a few times). I have only the UG802 connected to my computer, and I do not believe my 7 year old IBM is capable of a high speed USB connection. I have a question though.

          I just bought this model last week and I am wondering if it has updated firmware as compared to the previous models. Does your Rom Flash toolkit require any certain firmware version?

            My ROM flash tool works with any ROM. It does not know about what ROM is there. Erased NAND (IDB) wipes the thing completely of any ROM in the unit. Then you flash my ROM 1.4. DO NOT erase Nand for this CWM release or you will no longer ever boot again. ONLY erase NAND when flashing my 1.4 ROM. The Clockwork MOD download is ONLY a update not a full ROM.

              I was able to flash CWM in the end. Your flash tool for whatever reason would not detect the UG802 while in android, as I mentioned. To get around that I just used a terminal emulator and did "su reboot bootloader" and installed the drivers manually from there. All worked out well. Thanks for your advice, patience, and diligence for working on this stuff!

                Is there a way I can get into Recovery before the OS starts?

                I changed the lcd_density in build.prop hoping this would allow me to set the correct DPI for my Motorola Lapdock resolution. I think instead of 140 I may have just added 1! So i cannot see anything on the screen.

                As a result I cannot click "connect to pc" to reflash the rom the fix my stupid mistake?

                  Only other way now is to install ADB and issue this command
                  adb reboot recovery
                  This will kick you into recovery.

                    If you have clockwork recovery then you could create an update zip that will put a good build.prop. I posted one for the cube mini to resolve a similar issue for a user of the mini.

                      would someone be able to provide the correct build.prop?

                      If I have recovery can I just add the .zip to the root folder on the SD card and it will install?

                      I am unable to adb as I cannot set USB to debug and the device mounts as g:\ mass storage without USB mass storage turned on

                            Thanks Bob! I have managed to make perfect nandroid backup. Mouse and keyboard support in recovery mode is awesome. It just works.
                            Now I will try that new ROM for UG802 that 2dark4you and you have compiled.
