I can't get the screen lock to work I assigned a password but it still won't work

For some brain dead reason both the revisions of the 702c like trashing the display settings. Can you get in to those? Or, like me, do you get the "Settings has closed unexpectedly " when you go in to that setting tab? I wound up factory resetting my tablet, setting my display settings, and then hoping they stick.
Going to try CyanogenMod 9 soon.
