    MK808B

Hi all. I just got an MK808B today. It had Android 4.2 and it was working fine but I wanted to see if I could install a custom ROM on it.

First I checked to see if I had the original based on this thread:

I am under the impression that I have the original but feel free to tell me otherwise. Here is a picture.

So I went over to download ROM -> MK808 Original Finless 1.7c ROM (240 megs) from this thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ot-Finless-1-7 and managed to get the Flash Tool to detect my device after much searching. I followed the instructions and then got this the first time:

Apparently the issue with this is the USB so I went to use the back ports. This is what I got when I ran the Flash Tool again:

The computer still detects the device and the RKBatchTool shows the connected device, but hitting any of the buttons only gives me errors:

I decided to switch from PC to laptop, but I got the same result. The blue light no longer comes on so I am assuming it's bricked which lead me to this thread:

I tried to find the 8th/9th pin as best as I could using a needle and followed the instructions, but I haven't had any success. Unfortunately, I'm out of options and this is why I am here. I would really appreciate if you guys can help me with this.

I just realized that I am an idiot and downloaded the wrong file. It should have been the ROM -> MK808B Original Finless 1.7 ROM (240 megs)that I should have flashed. Anyway, I tried flashing this one and got the same error as before (though the damage was probably already done with that first ROM). I decided to dig around some more and found this as a possible solution: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post144781

I'll be trying this momentarily and will post results.

On another note: I also came across a user who had the same problem and he decided to uncheck the "loader" option. It did flash OK but naturally, you'd only go as far as logo screen.

You will have better luck getting answers if you post to the MK808B forum. This forum is for RK3188 based TV sticks.

Also, it has realtek 8723bs wifi, probably want to use Prahjister ROM when you get it working.

Man. I just can't read at all, can I? Thank you. I'll go over there if the issue continues to persist after trying budgetgeek's suggestion.

Will do. Somehow I got it running to where it flashed the correct finless ROM, but there was nothing being displayed. I had to flash a different Kernel and now I'm stuck at the Google TV logo. I'll request access to his files and try to flash his ROM. If things are still whacky, I'll be heading over to the appropriate subforum. Thank you for the help.

It looks like Prahjister ROM did the trick. Thanks again, guys. Closing this thread since it has served its purpose.
