A Newbie from PC/Apple Devices Looking for Help with AML S802, XBMC and basic configuration

I'm new to the android world. Unfortunately, I'm jumping both feet in and trying to get everything. That's may be my problem, but because I'm not familiar with the device and relatively new to XBMC as well, it's all compounding to a giant problem for me.

In short - I've got a new AML S802 Android running KitKat 4.4 that I want to use to allow XBMC (preloaded) to run as my media center, including PVR capabilities (hopefully accessing my library of movies and music on my External Seagate GoFlex Home NAS as well).

So, I've read hundreds of threads and am running in circles. I'm looking for some basic help to start. I'll around later with fine tuning, add-ons, etc.

    What I'm looking for is:
    - what do I need to get my S802 working with XBMC w/ PVR capabilities

    Here's what I have:
    - AML Mbox S802
    - XMBC Gotham 13.2
    - Seagate GoFlex Home External NAS (2TB) - have 2, but using one for now

I'd really appreciate any help, first steps, etc. that anyone can provide. As I said, I've read a bunch of threads, but they all assume a fair knowledge of what one's doing - in this case, I plead ignorance.

    Appreciate your time.

Setting up a PVR on these devices can be tricky. I use my Vega S89 and my Beelink R89 for my PVR. You will need a backend to provide the PVR service. I use my Synology NAS for my backend. Here is a video I made showing how I do it.

    MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

Clark, I am interested in starting to play with TVB and PVR.
I see your video provides a link to DVB USB stick.

      Questions:
      1) I don't know the terminology of different cable signals. I see your in Chicago? So this stick works with US Cable companies?
      2) I am on Time Warner and they just went all digital. I assume it's not going to work without a digital set top cable box in front of it? For my TV without a cable box I had to get a digital tuner box thing for my TV. If that helps?

I am thinking of opening a TVB sub forum here on FT. Want to run it or help with it?

I am in Michigan. I use a Silicondust dual OTA (over the air - roof mounted antenna) ATSC (North American TV broadcast standard) networked tuner. All TV'S have a built in tuner for an antenna or rabbit ears. With a network tuner, the TV broadcast can be played on any device that can play mpeg 2 TS streams.

        Hope that helps a little.

Here is a video using my just my networked tuner and my S89H.

All these acronyms are Klingon to me.... Interested in helping folks and being the moderator for a TVB section forum?

Hmmm, first I thought one of the keywords is 'Digital Video Broadcast Cable' (because there exist e.g. USB tuner http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-C_USB_Devices)
              => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-C
BUT then I found out that it isn't in use at USA...
              Maybe ISDB-C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISDB#ISDB-C ??? But I don't know if there exist some USB-receiver...

If I search for 'tvheadend time warner cable digital' I don't get helpful results...

Bob, I think it is time to start a sub forum for creating PVR's with these Android boxes. They now have the power to decode the mpeg 2 TS streams from live TV and Kodi is to the point now it will play those streams flawlessly. I know Taki has made great progress implementing the PVR into these boxes.

I made some YouTube videos showing my PVR setups using these boxes. I get a lot of request about how they could do something similar and it would be great if they could find the answers here.
