    My R28 boot swapped image

    Hi all,
Iv got a Tronsmart R28,& like iv done with all my tv sticks (sometimes with a little help from bob) im using a external sdcard as my nand all running great with my modded boot image the only thing im finding puzzling is my 32GB sd card is only showing as 16GB,As you can see its showing 16GB total space when it should be 32GB & 28.28GB available..If anyone can shed any light on why its only showing up as 16Gb! is the rom set to 16GB max my other tv box's have always showed up as what ever space the sdcard was

The next photo is when iv put 20GB of data on the external sd card (now my nand) it shows nand as full & 10.17GB available I can still download files, still play games ect. R28 working as normal.i think it must be fixed in the rom how big the space the nand is able to show

Oh my set up is stock rom 7GbB parameter & the remaining tronsmart space is now my sdcard.showing16GB nand but rely is 32GB

Ideas please why its only showing 16GB total space when it rely is 32GB

      Hello No spam for me.
Its quite a simply mod rely iv done it easily on all my tv sticks but on kit kat its a little bit more tricky as the vold.fstab file is located in the boot image so you have to take apart the boot image to do it .Its a simple modifcation of the vold.fstab file by swapping the wording internal sd to external sd & vise versa..It swappes the nand to the external sd card therefore if you use a 32GB sd card you will have a 32GB nand,Im using a class 10 sd card & i cant notice any speed diference at all..

The only thing that is bugging me is its only showing up as 16GB total space instead of 32GB witch is no big deal but it would be nice if it showed up the true 32GB space. im either doing something wrong (Big chance of this)or the nand size is limited in the rom

The 2 files i edit in the boot image are
      fstab.rk30board.bootmode.emmc
      fstab.rk30board.bootmode.unknown

all I do is swap the wording internal sd for external sd in 2 places in each file

      Orignal R28 boot image

My edited R28 boot image (WORK IN PROGRESS)

Feel free to try it (at your own risk of course) it should work on any rk3288 tv box.just flash my R28 boot swapped boot image nothing else.

Download links disabled until I can work out how & what to edit in the resource.image.
Even though my mod works it only shows a max of 16GB nand space no matter what size sd card you use.So I think its best to stop the downloads until if & when I can fix this, Im looking at the resource.image with a hex editor & I just don't no where to start

        THX for the info...
        really quick and dirty

I also thought about the 16GB "issue" as I had read it... I'm not an expert but my first idea was that it maybe depends on a value which describes the hw which is maybe located at the resource partition???

There is nothing to take apart. Just dump it from your box and flash it. If you look at it with a hex editor you will see it is just text and is the DTD deff's for hardware for the kernel.

Ok folks,,IV re enabled the downloads as a few people have asked for the boot swapped boot image But people please be aware this is a work in progress it works perfect on the R28 the only bug is that Even though my mod works it only shows a max of 16GB nand space no matter what size sd card you use, You can still use a 32GB sdcard & use all the space on it but it will only show up as 16GB

So downloads are now back up in post 3 for you guys to use,, Enjoy

Maybe another idea is to tell the people that they are able to unpack and repack the boot.img with the

                    'Android Image Kitchen' http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2073775
(you have to run it at dos / command-prompt)
                    Code:
                    unpackimg boot.img
after that you have a sub-folder 'ramdisk' where you can find the two files
                    fstab.rk30board.bootmode.emmc
                    fstab.rk30board.bootmode.unknown

where you have to do the changes (see post#3) with notepad++ (http://portableapps.com/de/apps/deve...padpp_portable )

After that you have to rebuild/-pack the boot.img
                    Code:

                    => image-new.img is the new boot.img

(of cause at 2. and 3. the one you are actually using)

                      Do I have forget something????
Arrr Thanks for the helping hand no spam i was being lazy by just posting my modded boot image to save me writting a detailed walk through,
Im sure your way works fine but i done it another way,,Hears how I done it.

I used RK3xxx_firmware_tools_5.10.28.00 from hear http://vondroid.com/threads/rk3xxx-f.../#.VIsluGcqXcs (you need to be registered to download it)
Once its downloads install it to the root of windows (C drive)

1.Open firmware tools, click select image (full android image that needs to be split in to boot, recovery, kernal ect ect)
2.Click extract.let it do its thing. two mins latter the image will be split
3.Click singel tools (bottom center of RK3xxx_firmware_tools)
4.Next boot tools is at the top left..Select file navigate to the extracted boot image
                      5.Extract
                      6.Open folder,,The 2 files i edit with notepad++ are in theRK3xxx_firmware_tools_5.10.28.00/temp/boot/boot.img.dump/ramdisk.dump are
                      fstab.rk30board.bootmode.emmc
                      fstab.rk30board.bootmode.unknown

all I do is swap the wording "internal sd" for "external sd" without the quotes in 2 places in each file
                      7.Build

new image.img is the new boot.img

Good luck you may well need it with my walk through lol now you can see why I just went for the lazy option & posted my boot swapped image

                            help needed

Guys please help. I have flashed my tv01ii with mk908ii fw. Everything works fine except for the internal memory which does not mount because mk908 has 16 or 32gb and my device has only 8gb. I believe that this partition size difference prevents my internal memory to mount correctly. Is there a way to resize the internal nand on the device itself? It's rooted and my pc is out for service.
