Ifive Mini 3GS replacing the glass and digitizer

The cat got her way, she got us to feed her, but not before pushing the mini 3gs off the table. My girl is PISSED!!

So, about 3 weeks ago I ordered a replacement glass and digitizer, but I have no idea how to pull this apart. Does anyone have a guide, or shall I work on one while I work on this? I'ld love someone to give me an idea on to how to fix it.

Unlike most tablets, the case on the 3GS opens from the front.

With a sharp knife, slide between the plastic case and the display to release the hooks holding it on. Start on the side away from the buttons and work your way around. You may need to use a credit card or guitar pick to hold your place so it doesn't close back.

I haven't replaced the screen, so I can't expand further. Once you get it open, you can see what else you need to do.

Notice there is heat sync tape on the CPU. Make sure it is secured to the back when you put things back together.

Ifive Mini 3GS replacing the glass and digitizer

The first thing I did was heatgun the glass (yes it does snap closed, unless you use brute forse, then it just breaks :P I have pictures of that... mostly for a writeup, which I'll finish once I've done this)

Now, I need to open the back. are you sure it only opens from the front? I'm going to need to know how I get to the mainboard, there is no access from the front. just a hole where you snake the ribbon for the digitizer.

I had mine apart yesterday, but I didn't look at how the display is mounted to the main board. I'm at work, so I don't have access to mine right now.

The case opens from the front, but I imagine the mounts to the display are on the back.

Have you pried up the battery to see what's underneath?

Thanks for the advice, I finally found out how it all comes apart, got it fixed, put it back togeather and then.... damn, the volume rocker isnt sitting right, thats ok, just jimmy it out like last time...crack!

*sigh* ... so, I put in an order for another ifive, and YES I do have an Ifive for sale. $80. comes with a cracked glass.. lets see of someone else has better patience. Will post pics if people want to see how NOT to replace the digitizer. no usb charger, postage not included (from brissy, australia).
