    Fixing Cache and Buffering Issues - s802 & s805

    Hi all,

I'm actually new to the xbmc world. Just got my android tv box, loaded with XBMC Gotham. The only issue is, a lot of tv shows and movies I load...I can't even watch. It will play 3-4 mins and that's it, buffered up. I noticed at one point, I got a couple errors that my cache is full.

I installed the maintenance add on and emptied the cache. I also enabled the 0 cache feature. This has helped a bit but not fully.

Are their any other cache mods or tweaks which I can perform? Is there a way to auto flush the cache often or after every playback so I don't have to do so on a daily basis?

Here's the specs one of my boxes

    M8 Amlogic S82 quad core
    2g/8g Mali450 GPU 4K HDMI
    2.4G/5G Wigi
8mb cache (will 16 make a huge difference?)

I have another box with the s805, same issue.

    Thanks!

    Well..
Cache0 is more ment.. for devices with low ram or slow connections to source
    ...
Ram = faster then nand, and cache0 means caching to nand storage or sdcard
-something you should avoid.. if possible
    ---
You have alot of ram.. you are better of setting cache to 200mb (thats equils 600mb of ram cache)
Another tweak you can try.. is the 'Bionic TCP Buffer Tweak'

    On s805..
    Using 'android tuner'
try disabling (deepfreezing) as many apps as possible.. like lauchers you dont use (free-ing up ram)
    Use 'bionic tcp tweak'
make a adv.xml with cache set to example 100mb

Thanks Mitch, appreciate it...things are a lot better now.

On a side note, I've been drilling both boxes to the ground with usage and don't even notice an ounce of performance or lagging differences between the two. I wonder why anyone chooses the s802 over the s805...the s805 is rock solid, along with the s802. Where would someone benefit with an s802 over an s805?
