Can any of the S802 like CSM8 play 4K formats? Mine doesn't play any .265 / .hevc etc

I made a post earlier about testing reports of two devices one based on RK3288 and one on amilogic S802 CSM8. The former played everything I threw at it including .lge .ts .265 .hevc etc and my own CSM8 couldn't play any only mp4 format.

That post never made it in here an I can't type it again. So anyone with 4K TV test out from their side about CSM8 like device if it can play 4K files?

it came with gotham, but in settings in xmbc there is only 1080p. However without going in xmbc the device should play 4K files right?

You can check the specs here: http://www.dhgate.com/product/csm8-m...1-1|3178238954

The RK3288 did without going into xmbc. Mx player could straight away play all the formats.

why my posts disappear? I replied back and it's not showing.

Anyway, it should play out of the box like it's advertised, shouldn't require xmbc to play. Also xmbc doesn't support 4k resolution in settings.

Tnx buddy I installed it and it still doesn't play .ts files. 4k MP4 is no issue but with other extensions like .265 .ts etc doest work. What a blatant lie they put on the devices as 4K compatible decoding .265 .hevc etc.

I replied to you but it never got posted. Anyway it still doesn't play .265 or .ts extension files. The whole point of getting a 4K media player was to have it play all file formats. I dont want to use xbmc as the hardware should play directly from main.

I guess it's just a sham these chinese are using 4k to get more people buy their products when these can only play certain formats. Since many still dont have 4k tvs so they don't know till it's too late.

Hoping that some new fw can bring in decoding of these formats.

Teh box of the OTT 4K shows .265 .hevc support. I posted the picture earlier in reply to you but it didn't get posted. I dont know if it's the rules or just some glitch 3 to 4 posts have not been published and also new thread.

(This could happen if you post the same again and again at different threads )

If you use XBMC I think they where right and the box IS able to support H.265 BUT as I wrote at the other thread no hw support, but come on, the SoC is powerful enough to handle it by sw...

Haha thanks. I had those two pages opened maybe mixed it up. I however did post a new thread regarding 4K hardware it seems to be missing.

XMBC still doesn't play .265 / hevc, .ts files in 4K, i've tried 2 to 3 different versions of xmbc including 13.2 with 2160p support.

Anyway I guess i'm unlucky to have 4K TV as it seems to be rare thing here and not much support on that front so better wait till some devs get their hands on 4K tvs.
