    How to debug IR remote?

I got my Vega S89-H from DX.com with a WiFi remote. These two work great together, but are a little too complex for non-technical users.

It came with a simpler IR remote. But I can't get it to work.

My IR tester says the remote is sending out a signal.

Has anybody seen or heard of a problem like this?

    Thanks in advance.
    Rich.

    Try:
    Powering down the tv box
Remove the usb reciever which came with the 3rd party remote
Remove a battery from 3rd party remote to be sure it's off
    Turn back on tv box
    Test original remote for functionality

When both my original and 3rd party remote have been operated whilst my box is on it does incorrect tasks. Using one at once causes no issues.

      Thanks Ant!

I tried the IR remote first, before attaching any other control device.

After I gave up on the IR remote, then I tried the wireless one. Which is a Tronsmart TSM-01 2.4GHz Wireless Air Mouse

I'll try cycling power a few times without the wifi remote attached - just to be sure.

Where is the IR receiver on this device? I would like to know I have it pointing the right way.

Here you can see the pcb

so you can see it's vis-a-vis the LAN plug...
Worst case something's wrong with the receiver???

          Thanks!

Here are pics of my unit:
          - General
          - PCB
          - IR Receiver

I embedded my notes into the pictures. The bottom line is the IR Receiver is a 3 pin through-hole device, in a metal can. I assume the can is to help capture signals.

I would like to know what part number the receiver is before I test it. Or maybe just replace it.

Does anybody know or have a schematic for this device?

PM sent. I hate to bug the guy about such a trivial problem.

If I knew the IR control code set in use, I could try a universal remote.

Ditto, I have the same issue! ....i also have a universal remote (One For All 7960) ... so if anybody can help out with codes ... i can figure out if its a faulty remote or receiver!

                Thanks in advance.

See my thread http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...board-with-IR) Debug instructions and everything. Your device and remote specific information will vary obviously.
