openELEC better then Android on the tronsmart s89H?

    Hi all,

I'm a linux geek, so as soon as I've seen someone porting openELEC (or any other linux distro) on our box I was excited and eager to test it.

The first attempt resulted in a broken thing and had to go back to Android.
Right after, the second attempt, was awesome! Everything suddenly worked out of the box! (I've used the kerber version of at xbmc.ru... It's in russian but, for the s89, you are just interested in the link with "s82" in the zip name.)

It was so simple and I was amazed how well the wifi, the ethernet and the overall speed of the box worked.
Honestly it wasn't working bad at all before with Android. I wasn't using games or so, only XBMC. So I can't say it resuscitated the box, it was pretty much alive already.

However I think I prefer the feels of openELEC.
What your experience? Does it worth stay on openELEC? Are there any obvious advantage using Android?(regarding XBMC only, I wasn't using games or other app...)

    Thanks

I tried yesterday Openelec on the tronsmart but the main reason for trying that wasn't working, an addon for view spanish IPTV "Movistar Tv" on android devices and share to the net thru DLNA. Anyway, works really well, very fast.

not working well on my early edition of s89 (old PCB). Random crashes (same with stane's linux version).

I'm running Kerber's latest OpenELEC port for the TV110 on my S805 box and I think it is much better than Android for pure XMBC use (Kodi).

The only advantage to using Android for Kodi is that you can download and install the standard apks as and when they are released by the Kodi team, whereas we are dependent on Kerber compiling a release for us, which hasn't really been a problem so far to be fair.

Also, on Android, you can run SPMC along side Kodi if you feel that way inclined.

I really am struggling to think of anything else!
