MK802 IV poor wifi bandwidth

Hello,

I bought my 802IV (old wifi) more than year ago and got tired of trying to get it fixed so basically I just have been using it as a paper weight until today. I was thinking of giving the device one more shot so i came back here and saw there was quite a lot new roms/firmwares/kernels available so i had high hopes as i was quite sure someone would have fixed the old wifi issues.

I'm pretty sure i have tried them all and it seems every single combination of rom & kernel has the same issue with the Wifi bandwidth. Either the signal strenght is poor, speed is going up and down or the wifi just keeps on disconnecting. I have done an antenna mod to get wifi better but to be honest its still really c*ap. I also installed a new heatsink to it ( nothing to do with wifi thou ). Other devices in the same wlan works perfectly and the wlan box is right next to MK802.

So the question is: Has someone got the device working so you can watch movies either from network drive or netflix using wifi ? what rom, which kernel ?

Post Deleted. I missed that the enquiry is based on a 8188 net chip and not a 6210. Oops...

I was on the same boat as you, tried every possible rom and kernels seen good ones and bad ones.But 1 thing was always a problem....Wifi band wide....i couldn´t stream a HD (720) movie over wifi it was just stuttering.So my first step was open the case, get the antenna out and stick it on a hard paper, made a little hole in the case where the wiring goes trough and got it sticking outside the casing.So yes band wide did go up, but was not on the speed what i needed to get streaming HD movies from my nas.And then i started again flashing different roms and kernel combination, and i hit the jackpot.The below combination did the trick, ROM is super you need the kernel (8188eu kernel) with the slighty OC combination is very fast and smooth.And WIFI is stable, fast and loads FULL HD videos in a second, i use it for over 10 months and i never saw a crash and i played a load of movies in that 10 months.

I use the "1.8ghz 1000mhz 720p" version but you can try the 1080p.It is rock solid for me, using it for 10 months now without any problems, bluray rips from my nas is playing smooth SPMC is also running great, its a fork of xbmc with auto update within google playstore.This kernel is made for the 8188eu wifi, the old wifi in other words.

Also, get the latest ROM (11-27-2014). I can stream 1080P 14.8GB MKV even with it downclocked.
