Polaroid 10" Tablet at Big Lots

    Hey all,
Hey I got to look a the black Friday ads for Big Lots early and they will have a 10" Polaroid Quad-core, yes that's right quad-core, on sale for $79.99! I may have to be there to get one. They open on Thanksgiving, from what the ad says, but I don't know if I want to get my butt out of bed before 7 am, when Big Lots opens, for another tablet. We'll see. Thought you may want to know.

    Rich

P.S. Oh forgot to tell you, only 4 GB memory! What the heck? The least they could do is make it 8 GB.

I saw this too, but at 4 GB memory, I'll be skipping it...

I might get one of these though:

    Currently: $99.99
    Black Friday: $79.99

Wow that's a nice one. It would be worth it at the $99.99 price! I'd pay that for a quad-core with 16 GB of memory. I don't know why Polaroid only put 4 GB in theirs. Kind of stupid since memory is pretty cheap these days. They could have at least bumped it up to 8 GB. I've seen a quad-core 7" tablet with 8 GB of memory at Staples on sale for $49.99 before that looked pretty good. Too bad you can't add memory to a tablet like you add memory to a PC. Maybe I'll do Walmart instead.

Walmart also has the Nextbook 8 inch Quad Core for $99, which sometimes goes on sale for less. It only has 8GB and no bluetooth though. I've got one and it's not bad.

Then they have the newer Nextbook 7 inch Quad Core for $79 (and sometimes less) with 16GB. Still no bluetooth...

I don't know much about the RCA, but the in-store demo unit seems ok, and the price is unbeatable for a 10 inch with 16GB, bluetooth and a wireless keyboard case included with it.

Well I looked at some reviews of the RCA tablet, that I could find, and they were saying that the tablet shuts off for no reason and will dump you out of apps when using it. One guy said it locked up on start and wouldn't go to the home page. Doesn't really mean anything though. I've had a couple tablets that people gave bad reviews to and I never had any problems. I guess it's all the way you handle it. It's not a toy, it's a computer. Treat it well and it will last a long time. Beat on it and it will die on you. Don't load it down with a bunch of garbage apps that do nothing but take up space and memory and slow you down. With the 10" RCA having Bluetooth, a case, keyboard and 16GB memory at $79.99 you still can't beat it. I'm not a fan of Nextbook. Had one once and took it back. Too much clutter and bloatware. I'll have to check out the RCA 10" tablet.

You are absolutely right about reviews not meaning much...

I also saw mixed reviews on the RCA, but I got the impression that there have been revisions to this model. It seems like reviewers who got the early models had problems, while reviewers who bought later didn't have the same problems, which is not uncommon for budget tablets...

I also noticed the complaints regarding battery/charging issues (again, from earlier reviews). I have a nextbook with with a short battery cable, stretched across an open space between the battery and the board. If you squeeze the case in the right spot you can push the cable into the gap and pop the battery plug out the connector slot. Filling the slot, hot gluing the plug in or moving the battery closer to the board solves the problem. I wouldn't be surprised if this RCA had a similar design flaw.

I think I'm going to give the RCA a try. If I can't get it at the Black Friday price, I'll pay $99 for it.

I've had several Nextbook models. Rooted all of them and removed the crapware. Made TWRP recovery and modified ROMs for some models and have more models on my todo list...

I picker up this Polaroid q10 tablet at Menard's $99 black Friday special its 8gig memory, 1 gig ram & it has a decent HD screen despite only having 1024x600 resolution. Has 4.4 kk I've played with it a little. Tried using iroot to root it but that didn't work. Probably gonna try kingo root when I get chance. Here is link for it. I also seen the rca tablet 10 for $79, $99 & now $119 ;( but I'll see if Walmart drops price in couple of weeks & maybe I'll snag one too then. Well sorry to babble & here is Link. Thanks Ron. http://www.menards.com/main/mobile/p...40-c-13917.htm

I got the P10 from Big Lots. I had to take something back to Big Lots so I just traded one item for the other. This tablet runs good and does have a great display, in my opinion. I've not rooted it yet though, tried a few ways but no success. I'll try Kingo tonight and see how it does. I see that rooting Kit Kat can be a real pain. An apk called TowelPieRoot is supposed to work but I tried it and it did not work on this Polaroid. Have to say the battery life seems to last a lot longer on this one than the previous Polaroid's I've purchased which is odd since one complaint I read on Kit Kat was battery draining issues. I'm selling off most of the older tablets I have. I don't use them and this 10.1" tablet is great for movies and TV. Yeah the fact it's only 4GB of memory sucks but I hope rooting it will solve that problem. One other thing I noticed, it's longer than most 10" tablets, wider. I tried putting it in a regular 10" case but it was longer than the case! Another oddity with this tablet. It will fit the case Polariod makes for 9" & 10" tablets without a problem.

Yea my q10bt Polaroid tablet I got at Menard's has same screen issue & size issue kinda longer than most 10 tablets? It is a pretty peppy & snappy Lil tablet for $99. The screen looks nice too, plus it has some tweeks built into to setting to change color for movies & pictures. I used CPU z & it says my table model is a couple like ptab1040 & ptab1041 & a couple of other names. I'll post a pic of it here later. But I do think i will be getting that rca pro 10 @ wally for $119 now even tho it was $79 black Friday & thru 11/30 $89.99 it still has good specs 16 gig memory 1 gig ram, quad core 4.4 kk. Well take care & take later.

I got this polaroid 10" from Menard also and very happy with it so far It is about 85 grams lighter than the RCA which is a bit on the heavy side. To me this is an important weight advantage for the polaroid. Just a super deal for a 10" tablet. Now all we need is for Finless Bob to make us a rom with clockwork mod.

                      I think the q10 & p10 are considered the same. Except p10 is 4gig storage & q10 is 8 gig? Cpu z says my tablet is a p10/q10/ptab1040 & ptab1041?

Hey also I have not had any luck rotting this Polaroid q10 tablet I bought last week. I've tried towel, frama, kingo, even tried iroot & some other root for Chinese tablets. Even tried using 2 different zip file for root that u run using the update app for all winner a31 tablets. It really seems like a nice tablet. Quick & responsive so root would be awesome.

Will have to ask support if they have a rooting procedure. BTW Why do you need "root" unless you try to add cwm?

Well with root we can install a app like link2sd to either put apps on SD card even if app says it can't or put on ext partition of SD card. We can also freeze or remove apps. Plus over or under clock processor & do xsposed frame work. Probably a bunch of other things that can be done with root access

Root allows us to modify the system partition...j

It also allows us to run a variety of apps that require root permissions...

The single best example of what is possible would probably be the xposed framework...
