    Getting Into Flash Mode

Quick question.. I have a RCT6272W23. (rk3026) my question is about flash mode. I have been trying for days to get this tablet to go into flash mode. I have no problem getting into recovery mode. I was playing with it Thursday and I had a pin in the reset hole in the back and was pressing the power and/or the volume up down button when all of a sudden I got a thin grey box saying "Android is updating with 1 /10" it did the 10 updates and went to the famous stuck RCA. This tablet is what they call soft bricked I think. I think I installed a program that wiped my os out. I do have a "no command " under a dead green android dude. My question I noticed the ROM Flash Tool 137 has a reboot into flash mode button. Can I hook a tablet up to that tool reboot it into flash mode and disconnect and put it on another tool (ROM Dumper) which doesn't have the reboot to flash mode option? I'm trying to dump the ROM from an identical working tablet so a member here who has been gracious enough to help me can build me a ROM to flash on my bricked tablet. I'm just scared to death to try getting in flash mode and bricking the 2nd tablet, it's my daughters. Any thoughts??
    Thanks in advance

    Suzy...I feel your pain.

Unfortunately, that button on the flash tool only works on a tablet that is booted to the system and is recognized at the bottom of the flash tool with "Found Mass Storage Device" or something like that.

In your case, since you can't boot to your system...you must get into flash mode manually.

I've been following your discussion and I think you are still having driver problems on your PC...preventing you from making the connection via USB. You've told me that you get errors with adb commands...that's also an indication of a driver issue.

ADB drivers are different from the flash tool drivers...so you must install the flash tool drivers to get the flash tool to work. You mentioned that the device manager indicates that a MTK device is recognized. That is an indication that your PC thinks you have the wrong type of device connected...MTK drivers won't work for RK devices.

As for your tablet...you will need to find the combination of external keys and possibly the reset button to get into flash mode manually. The only way to tell if you are in flash mode will be the notification in the flash tool that says "Found RK Device in Loader Mode"...the screen will be black.

If you have ADB connected and you are getting response from your commands...try this command:

    adb reboot bootloader

That's the adb command for putting the tablet into flash mode.

Another element to consider is the USB cable. I always recommend using the USB cable that was included in the box with your tablet. A run of the mill USB cable simply isn't good enough to make the connection for proper data exchange. Tablet USB cables often have a micro USB connector that is just a little bit longer so it will fit all the way into the case to make a good connection.

You are the first user who's ever contacted me about an RCA tablet. Not many, but some manufacturers elect to lock their boot loaders. If all of the things we've tried or suggested fail...I'm almost to the point to believe that RCA has locked their boot loader which would prevent us from proceeding further...but I hope that's not the case.

I did get errors when connected in recovery mode using the ABD commands for sideloading as it says . I do an adb devices check it reads a generic number with sideload next to it. There's sometimes it gives me a cannot read xxx, xxx file.

I must apologize when I turn the tablet on it communicates with the computer but it says MTP USB Device When it's in recovery mode using the ABD interface it will read the correct model number for the device. I apologize it doesn't say MTK. Having both tablets connected to the pc.. I compared the info in the device and printer area of the control panel. In the driver area hers and mine are the identical file locations. I even uninstalled and let the pc reinstall them.

Believe it or not no USB cord came with it or the other 3 that I bought. I've used both my cord that came with my Verizon phone and another generic cord we have. I did think maybe it cord wasn't connecting right which is why I changed cords. Both tablets seems to communicate through either cords.

How can I see if the bootloader is locked? I'll try anything on mine and about anything on my daughter's as long as I don't break hers. It's over the 15 day return policy for walmart. Lol

And Randy thanks for all you help. You are a wealth of knowledge. Hopefully I can figure this out cuz school starts again for me and I got to go back to concentrating on school full time. Keeping fingers crossed

its plugged in to my pc and i just ran a troubleshoot and its saying that RCT6272W23 needs troubleshooting that there IS a driver error. MTP USB device has driver problem not fixed

        2nd troubleshoot go through
        Reinstall device driver
There is a problem with the driver for MTP USB device. Reinstalling the driver might fix this problem
soooooooooo now what do we do? how do I get the drivers?

edited for in recovery mode I can only get adb through the apply update thru adb and i get the error:closed when I try adb reboot bootloader

The correct drivers are included in the ROM I sent you.

There's a PDF file called First Time User's Guide that explains how to install them.

Hi, excuse my bad English, I know what I'm not going to ask the subject but because you are talking about the tablet RCA RCT6272W23, I'm in the same situation, just as I extracted the .img files in the ROM. What I need is the original build.prop of this tablet because I modified and had a brick. I need your help, in advance, thanks!
