I wouldve thought you could still do 1080p with 1gb ram. resolution is more cpu or gpu heavy.
The are tablets with 1080p screens and only have 1gb ram.

1GB will run XBMC, but don't expect to use RAM as buffer for videos or use widgets etc.
1080p is really slow on RK3188 and not very usable unless you use overclocked kernels.
720p runs great.
The RAM chips' & Nand chip speed is more important than anything.
You don't want a device that is going to freeze every few seconds or take more than 3 minutes to boot up.
Also a 3A power adapter is important, with the 2A that ship you can't connect an external hard drive or use 1080p properly.

seperate question you might know.
is the any way Android can use a flash/pen drive as extra ram?
i know windows can do this although not sure how effective it is but could be helpful for some people with older devices/low ram to help prolong their devices a bit as apps become more and more ram heavy.

reason i asked Pen drive is that most people use the SD card for storage. id guess using an SD card for storage and ram would be heavy going.
suppose could use a pen drive for storage instead and sacrifice the sd card for ram only.
interesting find anyway, thanks
