That was a build problem of xbmc, the mantainer didn't include the proper option (that's why I like Gentoo, because with USE flags I can enable what I want)

    Code:
    * media-tv/xbmc
         Available versions:  11.0 (~)12.1-r1 12.2-r1 (~)12.3 (~)13.0_p2 (~)13.1 13.2 (~)13.2-r1 **9999 {+X airplay alsa altivec avahi bluetooth bluray caps cec css debug +fishbmc gles goom java joystick libav midi mysql neon nfs +opengl profile +projectm pulseaudio pvr +rsxs rtmp +samba +sdl sftp udisks upnp upower +usb vaapi vdpau webserver +xrandr CPU_FLAGS_X86="sse sse2" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7"}
         Homepage: http://kodi.tv/ http://kodi.wiki/
Description: Stub ebuild to migrate people to media-tv/kodi

It's the "udisks" flag here that does the trick

    Code:
    global use flags (searching: udisks)
    ************************************************************
[+ D ] udisks - Enable storage management support (automounting, volume monitoring, etc)
It has no problems mounting NTFS as long as you enable in kernel NTFS driver if you need it just read only (I'd not trust kernel's NTFS driver for write access), or NTFS-3G over FUSE (in this case you just might have to symlink mount.ntfs-3g to mount.ntfs if the package doesn't do it already).

    There's a solution for everything

    Fantastic....

Oh for f* sake... What so diferent this box have? Tuners -the same, CPU -the same, memory- the same. Stop that propaganda on WETEK. Yes it's the best of amlogic sat tuners, but it's not sooo much better than rest of others. It have support-witch is great, that's the only advantage..and design is beutiful.

@ChristianTroy - i tried linux MANY times. I most like KUBUNTU. Beautiful and fast. But distros makes no diference - it still linux. I had mini pc with kubuntu.. my sata drives was not automounted. they was visible in system (desktop, greyed) but XBMC could not access them untill i go and open disk via clicking on it via explorer. Disks was in NTFS, maybe that's the cause, but OpenElec have no dificult for this. I know OpenElec is not based on ubuntu and it have diferent mounting system.

you should try, even in a VM, any distro (I prefer gentoo but it's not for everyone) that has KDE on it. Maybe something like 10 years ago Linux was really geek oriented, nowadays it's more idiot proof than OSX (sorry Apple users ).

The only thing that doesn't mount (because I use it once a week and don't have any interest to look into it since I created a shell shortcut for it) automatically are MTP devices, specially Android that works using go-mtpfs.

I read almost all posts here and I fully understand you. As far I can see you bought some cheap China device called Vigica and now you would like to enjoy good OpenELEC and Android experience same as on WeTek. Now, after You realized that you are not able to make this working, you accuse that WeTek violate GPL which is really absurd thing.

WeTek is diamond sponsor of Kodi and OpenELEC project, and all code is hosted at WeTek GitHub repository, from where independent developers are able to pull down all code and to compile at their own way.

From my perspective WeTek Play SW for you is interesting as they are first company which make DVB-API v5 compatibility under Android and pure Linux, in this case OpenELEC, and now you would like to do same at Vigica.

Feel free to download code, adjust dtd file and compile firmware for Vigica, as well even WeTek Tuner drivers are fully public and open-source.

Once more, I fully understand You as you splashed money at Vigica and received only hardware without any support. Sorry to hear that. You should give a try to WeTek next time

Never taught of switching back to Windows and using it as client to connect to my build machine (ssh). Only change I did is switch from Ubuntu to Debian. And both mentioned Linux distros are easy to install and easy to use. If you need any Windows app that doesn't exist on linux, you can try running it with Wine (ok, that requires some skills, but 30 mins of reading and you'll figure it out) - as an example I use QQ International IM app.
I too am a little curious, as many Linux distros will auto-mount HDs. Command line isn't required to get a good general user experience, most things can be done in GUI. I am not fluent in command line ops, and I very much enjoy using Linux. I'll admit I have become a distro junkie, so for now, I cannot name a favoriite.
But I favor a few of the Live ones to play with. For example kWheezy. For me and an old dual core AMD 64, 2GB, everything works. Linux has made a lot of progress in the last few years, it's moving closer to mainstream everyday. The will always be a bit of a learning curve when using something new or switching platforms. For those who can barely send/receice an email, Linux may not be right for them. However, based on the number of calls I get from some of my geriactric clients, Windows isn't right for them either.
To each his own, I suppose.

Linux not good for regular desktop user. It's too complicated. So many problems with using linux. Looks like once you configured your linux good -you should do backup for future cause it takes ages to do that
Yes linux flexible for developers/system admins, but sucks at rest. It's a 21th century but most of stuff in linux is done via command line
It's funny when people say Windows is not free so go for linux. I never ever paid for windows and using it 15 years. Windows worth paying anyways, saves years of your time. Of course if you grew up with linux - you will never want to use windows. I guess the same applies for win users.

Yes I noticed some of that stuff the other day when I built that kernel on my HTPC to get support for my DVBSky card, while doing a "make oldconfig" I was prompted with CONFIG_ANDROID and when looking into arch/arm I saw something but didn't really dig into it.

That would be really awesome if, at some point, the arm socs will be included in the mainline kernel and you'd only need a dtb (even compiled in dtd) file (practically comparable to a firmware for the motherboard)... something like building a kernel for a regular pc where you only have to include the correct drivers.

Of course the manufacturer should update and take care of most of the things like AMD and, specially, Intel are doing (just think that Intel adds chipset / cpu / gpu driver support months before they're going to release the new products! Like the HEVC support for Skylake cpus added on mesa in december).

Intel rocks, nothing to say about them... bein a Linux user I wish that many other manufacturers would be like them...

I think we're arguing on nothing here since the guy complains about the only Chinese SOC manufacturer that fulfills the GPL

Think about Rockchip or Mediatek, last year I went to the CES, talked to some guys at RK's booth, asked them why they weren't releasing kernel sources... they stopped talking to me
Related to kernel sources, I'm not sure how far that will go, but some initial support for aml mx is present in mainline 3.18 (Geniatech atv1800 i think) and some more SoCs are added in 3.19. See here:

Do Wetek wrote drivers? i doubt it, do wetek created bunch of rest of stuff they use? No.
I agree Wetek is better, and if cost 15euros less-i would buy it instead of vigica

PS GuRu - i like your website and i with love pay 5 euros for your work i saw you have something which is nice and maybe will be ok for Vigica c60s. FullHD firware.
You just don't get it, do you? Like Christian said, do you think you can ask and get Samsung or HTC or Sony full Android SDKs? No. You can get GPL parts which is mostly kernel and maybe some other stuff. Rest of it is their own property. Same goes for Amlogic. When you're becoming partner with Amlogic, it doesn't cost you anything, but you have to sign documents like SLA and NDA which forbids you to distribute parts of code which are not GPL. That includes all Amlogic applications, parts of framework and others that is not GPL and is not part of AOSP.

GPL releases (kernel, drivers, their Linux BSP - Buildroot based...) you can find on amlogic site: http://openlinux.amlogic.com:8000/download/

And yes, WeTek did pretty hard work rewriting DVB drivers to make it work in eg OpenELEC (tvheadend). That code is also available on repositories mentioned in earlier posts.
