Any lights on? If no, then chances are the board is shot.
Try the toothpick recovery method even with no display.. it may work.

Have you tried plugging it in to your Computer... Obviously with the Device connected to a Power Supply first. Does the Computer see anything called a Worldcup Device? If so you might be able to recover the Device by updating the Firmware on it. Though AmLogics USB Burner Tool.

If on the other hand your PC, can NOT see it. Its probably time to request an RMA!

                          With or without a NAS?
The only way I would know of is if you had some way of giving each HDD its own IP Address. But, I'd have no idea how that would go. I just have a Single Dual Bay NAS Box, and that get its own IP from my Router. At which point I have as many options to mount the Dives in or, outside of XBMC as I wish.

                          SAMBA, NFS etc...

That's not a bad Idea, but I was under the impression that Op wanted to make his Stack of USB Drives visible somehow, not the Android TV Box per-say.

About the only way I could think of where that might work... Is if you have a Router. Like the German AVM Fritz Box 7940, that comes with Two USB 3.0 Ports. Where you could attach such a USB Hardrive up to it, and use it as a NAS BOX. (e.g. SAMBA, NFS CIFS etc... etc...). Otherwise theres FreeNAS. But, that would requre something like a gutted Netbook to run. Sure you could use that old Beige Block. But. +400w TDP kinda kills the concept of 24/7 uptime.

If Op wants some free advice... He'd do well to lurk on Fleabay for about a Week till he finds a Cheap-ish NAS Box. Which is what I did. Hopefully One that has better support for the FonzPlugin (BitTorrent, Media Tomb etc....), then my Conceptronic's CH3HNAS. But on the other hand I was able to snag it for 'round 40€'s about Two Years ago now. Even as nude as I got it. It would have still probably set me back a cool 150€'s had I had to buy it new.

In any case as long as the Drives themselves are visible. Then the Android Box, as well as XBMC / Kodi should have no problems in "seeing them". I know the k4 Player.. (For what ever good its for sees it). Doesn't seem to want to play anything though. As well as the MX Player (Network Stream(s)), is also able to pick up my NAS Box.

Which IIRC is only using a simple Zeroconf SAMBA Share at the moment. I've only ever bothered with NFS / CIFS while I was playing with Mint Linux. Which was nice Since the NAS was seen as part of the so-called "Beige Box", at boot.
