    Suggestions for M8 box

    Hello All,

    I finally bought my first android box. An OTT M8 Amlogic S802

    It comes with windows type of display. I am going to use it mainly for XBMC and for some catchup services and probably games..if i fancy.

    I would glad if you could pls help me out with a couple of queries..

    1) Is there some other ROM which is better than the one on the box..

    2) Any other tweaks I should do..?

    3) I have currently got gotham 13.1 preinstalled...should I try and upgrade it..if yes, then to which version..?

    4) I have installed fusion at present...but have heard good things about droidsticks but cant find their wizard anywhere...?? can anyone share a link pls..?

    Pls dont mind all these queries as this is my first box so am still learning things

    But you should also have a look at the printed information at the pcb to check if you have a clone box or not and which custom rom could work at it...

      Do you talk about the square M8 or the round M8
      If you talk about the round M8 then this is the wrong sub-forum!

        Sorry for posting in the wrong place....soo many different boxes...didnt know where to post..!!

        it is a square box with a triangle blue LED in front with M8 written on top. got it from amazon.co.uk

        How do I check PCB..or if its a clone or original...the packaging it came into said OTT M8 Box

          You have to open the device (I think you will find 4 screws under the rubber feet) and find the printed information at the pcb...

            Righto...!! shall do it tomorrow and get back to you here if that alright..!! will take a pic...it does have a mac address sticker at the bottom if thats any good and as per the settings menu its model number is K200

                Heres a pic buddy..!!

                The four black chips say samsung 428

                by the led light it says H8&M8_IO V2_0

                Is there anything else I should check..?

                  BTW: these linuxes (openELEC and Stane's one) aren't full linux-versions because only runs XBMC...
