    MXIII Custom 109k4 problem

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to customise the 109k4 stock firmware for a 1gb MXIII. I'm just adding and removing a few apps.

I can flash the stock 109k4 no problem, but when I try my custom version, it says copying file to tmp but after a bit it just drops back to the recovery menu, no error messages.

Any ideas why it won't flash?

Could be any number of reasons.. The first One that springs to mind is that your "Update" wasn't signed.
Really all things considered... And, yes the Stock ROM has some wonky sh-- in it.
I mean W(ho)TF needs Quick Office on this Device. When you have pretty much ZERO chance of ever getting an 802.15 Bluetooth Keyboard to work with it. (NO Bluetooth). The Remote should be able to send Alphanumeric's (e.g. T9), but it doesn't... And even then I would absolutely loath the idea at the prospect of having to write out a whole Letter like that.

So surly it would just be simpler, and quicker to just fire-up something like ES File Explorer, enable the root setting, and fix the Permissions to write to the /system Folder? Then drag & drop said useless files to the Sin Bin? I managed to recover about roughly 50Mb of space like that!

Once its done... Its done and IIRC... Should you go and goof that up, and Delete something very IMPORTANT. Not, even a simple Factory Reset would bother bringing it back. So on that front you'd have to pick your "crazy apps" with some care.

As for me... The Apps I usually rid myself of are the aforementioned Quick Office, the Music Player. (I prefer to use GMusic myself!), and the Quick Search... What ever that does.

Should you ever wonder about the IRSever.apk... Apperently its the Server Side Client, of the Smart iRemote (Google Play Store)... Its the 802.11 Wi-Fi enabled Remote, that you might have noticed in the Screen Saver. Somebody should probably thank someone for having never bothered to actually tell anyone about this Apps existence. While it won't give you any additional Buttons. It does have a custom US Keyboard that should make typing URLs a bit less of a PITA!

Shame that the Enter / Return Key doesn't seem to do jack-all though. Perhaps I either need an older Version, of the App on my Tablet. Or the IRServer.apk need to be updated on the MXIII? In either case. The only appeal here is for the Keyboard, and it only kinda works...

lol, thanks for that. The update I'm using is signed ok. The same way I've done hundreds of others, just won't flash this one

As for the default apps, I'm stripping most of them out anyway and for keyboard I use a keyboard/mouse combo controller.
