Wifi Solution for N101 crappy signal

I did by a set of Tyco antennas for my N101, but I really didn't want to do such an invasive procedure quite yet unless I tried another option.

I did a search on Amazon for a wifi repeater, thinking they would be very expensive. I was happy to find one for about 40 bucks that had some decent reviews and ordered one.

The one I found just plugs into a standard wall outlet. It has some challenges to get into setup mode, but since I flash tablets all the time it isn't a big deal to take some time to play with it a little. It finds and connects right to the main router and you just enter the password. Instead of connecting to the router, connect to the repeater and enter the same password as the router.

The fire stations I work at have wifi, but I don't have control of where the routers are placed. Before, I couldn't even connect to wifi on my N101 in my room. Now with the wifi repeater right next to me, my wifi signal is pegged...and fast.

If you don't want to do surgery on your tablet and have to travel to hotels and use wifi, or need your tablet on the opposite end of the house/office from your router...I recommend investing in one of these wifi repeaters...they are great. I just ordered another one to boost signal for my kids upstairs from my main router for their wii and Xbox as well as their cell phones. Just unplug it and throw it in your gadget bag when you leave.

It is a much more plausible solution.

Thanks for sharing this solution, Randy.

My father-in-law's N101-2 has shockingly bad Wifi reception so I'm going to try this solution before the Tyco antenna or sending it all the way back to Taiwan.

We're only talking about the next room with zero signal, for heaven's sake...
