ug802 Finless 1.5B -- BETA TEST ROM

OK guys I am trying to work on the audio/video sync issues. It's a guessing game since my development is on a PC and I am using a monitor with HDMI but no audio from HDMI. Sucks I know but I am putting into this my best knowledge about how android works to try and fix these issues.

YES we do want GPU video decoding! But can we get it? We shall see.....

This BETA ROM is for POWER users only. I will NOT be making a BETA update.img package. You must use my Flash tool and have the drivers etc ready to go. If we fix this issue then YES I will make a update.img package as a final ROM.

PLEASE READ the README in the package and what I ask you to do to flash this. Basically YES I need you to erase IDB this go around. I also need the new 1.16 loader flashed! THIS IS WHY we must use the flash tool.
I do not provide instructions for installing the drivers and flashing. Again power users here. I expect you are already setup to use the PC flash tool. If your not, then read the README from my 1.4 ug802 ROM.


So here is a 1.5 BETA. What I did was use LIB files and other files from a great performing ROM to see if we can solve the audio/video sync issues. It is rooted and does have init.d support built in. Thats about it! No other patches like China Mobile google play etc! We are focusing on the audio/video sync issues nothing more here. Later I will refine it IF we fix it

Understand, as we test and continue to develop and work on this, I will be supplying new system.img packages. You wont need to erase NAND again (unless I ask you to) if I update system.img. So as I release these updates, please be prepared to do this properly. I will provide exact instructions.

Also I will be up most the night and I am off tomorrow so as you provide input I will work on stuff QUICKLY in the next 48 hours!

Finally please do me a favor! DON'T use the ug802 stock launcher (launcherNEW)! Use the standard ICS launcher (launcher not launcherNEW). I beleive that the ug802 "petrified" launcher is a resource hog and a possible reason for performance issues.

ok, what i just noticed. flash streamig seems still out of sync, but i just started a bluray image with emediacenter and this one wasnt out of sync - of course it had to buffer every now and than cause of wifi, but audio/video sync was fine. will cross check tomorrow with 1.4 again, if it is a step into right direction or if i missed this one in v1.4 and it already worked there!? bedtime now ;-) will check sound(quality) tomorrow too.

btw wifi connection is 150Mbps now for me!!!!! :-O

The mk808 jelly bean rom someone posted on here is really good, apart from the screen ratio being wrong (1024x768 or something like that showing in antutu) and the wifi not working. It might be worth working from that?

The MK808 jellybean ROM is mine. But let me ask. Are there still video/audio sync issues with that? I have to tell you NO WAY will I ever get Wifi working on that MK808 ROM for the ug802. I wont go into why but it is a kernel compile issue. BUT again did it have video sync issues?

Yes... I do believe I have a set of drivers and wifi modules that work WAY better than stock! Those are keepers for the final ROM

I watched a whole xvid movie and it seemed great to me.

In fact, I've just re-flashed it and watching a youtube video again from the app (I have an ethernet adapter) and sync is perfect in my eyes.

THAT is good news! THAT is what I wanted to hear

We need more people to input though.... I may cook a really wierd system.img to find the best base to work from, but if this fixes it, maybe I do not have to do that.

i use bs player mx player and xbmc non neon and the sync from live streaming and tuxbox via xmbc perfect only problem i can sort is the usb ethernet only will connect at 10 meg so using a local ap and N and getting about 71 meg thou put

would be nice if they was a way to manuel set the ethernet to 100

thats all i find wrong with rom

Well I was going to stay up many hours tonight but it appears the largest customer base for interested users is 1/2 the world around!

I am calling it a night.

But I will be home all day tomorrow so I will respond to TESTING feedback first thing in the AM.

I am looking for good news but I expect to work more at this as I know we are NOT there yet, but I think I am getting closer!

My experiences so far:
Mx player without audio s/w decoding enabled: stuttering audio&video
Mx player (9GB mkv through smb) with audo s/w decoding enabled: flawless
XBMC: flawless (HD not yet of course, due to lacking h/w acceleration...)
Youtube app: audio lags a little bit behind, sometimes skips audio-parts (to catch up ?)

Other experiences (may not be the main goal of this beta)
I have a fly mouse which worked perfectly with 1.4 but with 1.5 the layout is screwed up (for example the "z" and "y" keys are swapped; back button doesn't work)

Could you elaborate on why you are using XBMC no-neon ? I use neon and couldn't really figure out if ug802 is a neon device, but I see no real difference in performance between neon or no neon
