new firmware V2 - old root method not working anymore

the old root method doesn't work anymore with the new firmware v2. I tried different times. Can anyone help?

BTW:
also TWRP recovery, TWRP-for-Amlogic, cannot be installed anymore in firmware V2- to update to the new firmware V2 I had to install stock recovery first.

I rooted my x8-h (new V2 firmware) with this Method 1 http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ad-Core-tv-box
make sure the factory_update_param.aml file is not still on your sdcard/usb stick

At first i could'nt root mine but then i noticed the (factory update param.aml) was still on my usb stick once i had removed that it worked fine

I had to do the root process two times and after installing twrp once again, but now it's both working like a charm!

What did it do when you booted to recovery and tried to install it?

On v2 they are using release keys instead of test keys.
Probably recovery is refusing to install due to keys. It can be workarounded by booting a modified recovery from sd.

when I tired to install the update.zip with the factory_update_param.aml via twrp it said:
error: this update package is for minix x8 - this is a minix x8-h device. after that I installed the stock recovery, then the update to V2 worked.

I tried to root the device, but because of the factory_update_param.aml beeing still in the root directory of the usb stick, it didn't work. after deleting it, it worked after a second try. Finally I installed the latest version of twrp and the theme for 1920x1080 and root didn't worked anymore. I had to root it again and then all was fine.

That's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure from the user. My EZ root package did not come with a recovery.img so this can probably be easily fixed by using the previous recovery.img and putting it on SD with the EZ root package.

I am going to have to flash this new Minix ROM and see what's going on.

I am not fully sure, but a friend of mine have mentioned that the GUFONE Root Method (used to Root Beta8 and Beta9.2), also works with the latest OTA2!

I just tested my EZ root and it worked just fine on the new firmware. I did a full erase and flash to be sure. So I do not know what the OP's problem was but it still works. Oh and I did not need a old recovery on SDcard either.

Note: the OC certs have not changed for ZIP file signing. It only changed to release keys for build.prop.

Working on it now.

FYI I found a boo boo by Minix. They left the needed commands in to support init.d but they did not add the folder to /etc so it wont work. I will fix that and also change this implementation back to the standard naming called init.d not init.

I think I found why the OP had a problem with my EZ root package. This new recovery is VERY PICKY about the condition of the sdcard. While making my ROM al of a sudden it would not install anymore. It verified and said installing but nothing would happen. It would give no errors just say "installed" and in fact it did not.

Reformatting the sdcard solved that.
