1,what was your first tv stick/box & did you like it? marks out of 10?

MK808B - I saw it on "Dude!!! I Want That" website and had to get it, even though the RK3188's were coming out. Probably 6/10 in hindsight. It's kind of broken right now, and I'm reluctant to start soldering stuff to fix it.

        2.2nd & 3rd tv stick/box ect...& marks out of 10

I got a PIPO M9Pro tablet and once I saw the PIPO X2, I had to get it because Pipo. Then the tablet crapped out on me, and I was not happy with the Pipo branded stick and was done with Chinese stuff. I got an MK809III after that and fell in love again. I'm about to move the X2 to another TV and strip it of any identifying features. I do like that it has a power switch, though.

        MK809III - 8.5/10
        Pipo X2 - 7/10 (only 1 gig of RAM)

3.what tv stick/box do you use daily?

MK809III. It's hooked up to my newest television and runs on the USB without a problem, so I can run it when the tv comes on and watch movies without interrupting everyone else. The TV is small, so 1080 isn't a concern.

4.what do you use your tv stick/box for?

Streaming Netflix/Hulu/Showbox and playing MP4 downloads from showbox on USB media.

5.what rom's are you all using?

My own. I dumped the stock rom and used the boot/kernel Prahjister fixed up for me, everything else is stock, with a custom boot animation that comes on when the tv does.

6.what would you like to see in a custom rom?

I hate the pointer in my rom. I would like a TV launcher and a better pointer, like a hand or something.

7.what would you like to see in a tv stick?

Since I don't have or need a 4K tv, my stick is perfect. I think maybe my wifi isn't great so I can't stream 720p over it, but that may be the 6mbps service I have.

My first tv stick was a Justop mk809ii and for it's size, it impressed me more than I was prepared for. Score with stock firmware 4 but after a few customs it got up to 6.

2nd was an Original K-R42, with the genuine RK3188 CPU, which seemed like a big step up in specs and functionality. Score with stock was 6 but after a few customs it got up to 8.

Third is the Tronsmart R28 Meta was what I thought would be the jump into final Rockchip perfection and whilst it is not there as soon as anticipated, it's still a very good box and closer to doing all that I could realistically expect of it. Score with stock was 8 and not hovering around 9, especially as we now have the luxury of custom ROM's coming out of our ears, which bodes well for making is close to perfect.

3.what tv stick/box do you use daily?

Tronsmart R28. I sold the other two and only really need one device at a time.

4.what do you use your tv stick/box for?

Steaming all manner of video and audio and even for surfing when there is nothing on the TV.

Also love the tinckering and testing side of things, modifying setups to obtain the perfect setup.

5.what rom's are you all using?

I have used every ROM going and all the custom ones have been great.

6.what would you like to see in a custom rom?

Apart from all the components that make for perfect video playback of any file format, stability of operation is the key thing for me.

7.what would you like to see in a tv stick?

More antennas for wifi to boost the performance.
Even greater use of CPU/GPU regulation to ensure the best power management.
Better design for the best heat dissipation.
One that does everything for less than a pound.

              AW: Tv Stick/Box history

My first TV-Box was an MMB 244 HDTV (buyed by Conrad Electronics, Germany). Some weeks later i was desillusionated from Android. But the problem was not the system. Trouble came with this unit.

I crawled the web and found a newcomer: Minix NEO X7. Dec 2012 ordered and owner since Jan 2013 is this device my favorite.

Since the first day with the Minix Neo X7 im using only Custom ROMs. It has good votings and can be setup to a rooted device with Custom ROMs. Minix has a great community (engl., german and other) so you can find "your" Custom ROM.
The first Custom ROM was from a german guy (here in cologne) and since a half year im using the Finless 1.9 ROM. But from time to time the tv-box goes off and reboot. That was not a great problem but a other real problem: sometimes after reboot the internal sd-card was formated(?) or deleted(?) and without this its the only way: new flashing.
Since 3 days im using the Wasser ROM. Feeling like: Worlds away from Finless. also rooted, without internal sd-card-partition (only one great partition), no hangups, better statusbar (top left side: for apps and informations & top right side for time, LAN, settings, location, bottom middle (transparent) for controls).

              Im use this tv-box ( ad-free with L.P. ) for:
own webserver (bitwebserver), play videos/movies (mx-player), listen music (n7player, TuneIn Radio) and many more with TSF Shell Launcher.
