Bad Show Box performance issues on M8 (stanes, Finless 1.8, etc.)

Hey everyone,

Are there any other users here who run Show Box on their M8?

I've installed it on a few different ROMs (stock, stane's [20140903], and Finless 1.8). It just skips like crazy during playback of Movies or TV shows on high settings. I've beat this horse to death for the past two days, also trying every external player I could find to use with SB and changing their settings in every conceivable combination I could muster. This included MX, VLC, XBMC. The results are always the same.

Tested on multiple (original) M8 0.92 boxes as well.

Anyone else have any feedback re: SB performance on these units?

If you are streaming, it might be the connection, does it do the same on medium quality?

Yep, streaming. I've ruled out my net as being a possible cause. I have SB loaded on an MX2 and even though it's 720p upscaled to 1080p, it doesnt have issues playing the high quality items which is strange. It 'should' be the opposite.

If I stream in SD (low, medium) there aren't any skipping issues.

XBMC streams perfect from addons in HD and so does another streaming app.

I just have no idea why SB is being such a pain on the M8.

Can anyone with an M8 give the Show Box app a go and let me know how it performs on your device?

Would love some feedback from others if possible.
