ota updater does not read rom mx3 1GB

i bought a mx3 and i couldn't get the ota updater to confirm what firmware i had. i got the 1gb model. i update it with M82_109k4_1gddr_ap6181_sdcard. it works good but i can't get the ota to work. it says unsupported rom. what is the best firmware for this model. or should i sell it and get the 2gb model

As with 99.99999% Of all the OTA Updaters out there in the Wild. They don't work. 'cause the OEM's ODM's don't bother pushing anything over the Channel. With some good reason, as I understand it. As in the past where they had used the OTA Updater, it supposedly nuked the Device back to a Factory fresh state.

If you ever had to setup one of these Boxes with that crappy little Remote you know what kind of chore that can be...
Plus the fact that if you like Google's Music Cloud Service. Chances are fair to good that you'd have multiple copies of your Device listed, against the Max 10 that you can have. Worse still since late last Summer. Google has been cracking down on how many Devices you can now remove. with-in a Year. Its down to Four now.

So I wouldn't waste any sleepless nights about the lack of OTA Updates... Chances are that we'll never see any.

p.s. Besides 109k4 IS THE LATEST FIRMWARE for the 1G/8G at the moment. If you care to beleve some 'round these Parts. The "BEST" Firmware would have been the Stock 108k4 (e.g. amcodec + Netflix playback). Problem is no one has ever published that Firmware (for the AP6181), to the 'net yet. So we're just stuck with the 109k4 for the moment.

As to the "Newer" stuff that you've undoubtedly been reading about. The 110k4, for example... Only addresses "Issues" on some 2G/8G Boxes that use Bluetooth. As I'm sure you already know by now the 1G/8G does NOT have a Bluetooth Chip in it. So theres absolutely nothing to gain in installing it on a 1G/8G Box.

If, and when it ever pops up the 111k4 / 112k4 should be the next major update for all boxes. Which will hopefully add optimizations to the amcodec side of the Box. These are the Updates we as 1G/8G users need to be waiting for. And no they're not done yet? As to when...? Your guess is as good as everyone elses here...

Because of clone pcb, netxeon (the pcb-factors) and tronsmart (use also netxeon pcb) doesn't use OTA via network...

It's easy as a OTA certificate can just be copied to the clone device and the build prop could just be "tweaked" for upgrading. That being said a device could easily be bricked with OTA if it's not identical hardware such is usually the case with clones. Different NAND, ram etc.
