    UG802 + 5.1 sound?

Does this device handle surround sound, dts, in any way? Its useless if you cant use it for home cinema imo.

    yes

one way is that you amp must have a hdmi input
2nd way is you tv have a digital output
3rd you have a left and right out put from tv to amp

My amp has HDMI In and output, but reciever says 2 channel input.
My tv has digital out to amp but same there
My tv has stereo out to amp but stereo is only 2 channel.

Has anyone got real multi channel output from this unit? Not fake all channel stereo but real surround.

Same for me, no 5.1 sound with ug802 at all. The amp + TV tested with BoxeeBox, WDTVLive and TizzBird with exactly same connection, 5.1 sound works well.

Are you getting 5.1 using any other player? Are you using SW or HW decoder? I assume we are all on the Finless 1.4 rom?

If you are using a player that uses hardware sound decoding you will get 2Ch.

If you use a player that uses software/pass through then you will get 5.1

None of these Android TV/sticks have 5.1 hardware decoding, but all can pass the raw bits through the HDMI cable you just have to use a player that allows it.

Once I get my iMito I will try out lots of options that I've been reading up on and let you all know what works, but I am thinking that something from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1803871 might help.

Should you really need a usb sound card? I cant get my head around this issue and it is hardly discussed at all!

I think 5.1 DTS pass-through should work with a USB based sound card via SPDIF, see also here:

Couldn´t test it myself yet, as my MK808 has not arrived yet. Would be interesting if anybody else got it working and how. These sound cards are btw very inexpensive, like 9€ / 12$.

I have exactly this (blue) CMI 106 based usb sound card and I use it without SPDIF... It works only as stereo and it is a power hog. I have belkin USB hub (AC powered of course) and if I use this usb sound card, all my USB storages (USB stick, WD passport disk) periodically unmounts, and mounts, in the middle of the film
Solution for this was Y-usb cable, where data part goes into usb hub, and power part goes into 5V usb adapter (which came with ug802). It is usable now, but haven't tried DTS and spdif, haven't got a cable...

I´ve tested the (blue) CMI 106 based sound card too... The card was identified at once without problems (MK808, finless + KiZ 1080 Kernel & MX Player).

Then connected by optical cable from SPDIF to my AV-Receiver - an now the exciting moment.... : unfortunately only Stereo downmix again...

Perhaps must the ffmpeg-plugin for MX-player support/configured for 5.1 ? it looks like the ffmpeg-plugin is decoding the DTS-Signal and forwarding it as an analogue 2.0 signal to the audio HAL...

                              maybe this could help...

I´ve read in the linux-forums, that the asound.conf is to customise, when you will get a real 5.1 output.

                              #alsa can help

this is an example for a terratec-card

[1 #This asoundrc is for the CMI8738-MC6 only.
2 #It plays any sound sample through all 6 speakers.
3 #It also allows for the playback of 5.1 streams and 2.0 streams at the same time.

In principle should it be possible to configure the (blue) CMI Card or HDMI-passtrough on the same way... Sadly i havent enough experience to make it self...

Then is to configure audio_hw.c and audio_policy.conf like the following
