The play store on my box won't run, just closes straight away, and so I tried some manual updates, but it is still the same. At one point in Settings it would offer me a google account... but would close if I tried to run. Now that option has gone away too. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hey guys, Im new here, but a long time android developer/themer (xda). I am having this issue as well. I just got the M8 yesterday and I tried to open the playstore. I input my account info, then it went to the playstore and said "server error" then closed. I tried it a few more times with the same result. I tried updating the gapps, same result. I tried removing my google account, wiping data/cache for services/framework/playstore, still same result. I tried connection Ethernet and wifi, same result. Im in the US, and Im thinking that the only other option would be a build.prop edit, or a different ROM. I bought the box with XBMC fully loaded, and I don't really want to loose the fully loaded part by flashing another ROM. Any help would be appreciated.Comment

Found the problem - Google apps were installed in /system/app but need to be in /system/priv-app. I finally manged to move them after rooting, intalling root explorer from sd card, and being very patient with the lowsey remote that come with this thing and slowley moving the needed apps from app to priv-app. Rebooted and everything worked.
