Just bought MK808 and I am already facing some problems

    Hello guys,

I just bought from MK808 Dual Core Android 4.1 Jelly Bean TV BOX RK3066 Cortex-A9 Mini PC stick, I receive-it yesterday and I have the following problems :

    1) Problem with WPA2 (unable to connect to my Lynksys Router)... so it seems that this is the only device from my house that dos not accept WPA2 (only no security or WEP)
    2) Very week WIFI signal (only 5 or 11 Mbps) at only 5 meters form the router (as a mention the android mini pc is behind a Samsung Smart TV )
    3) The HDMI connection is not sable, I see flickers at every 5-10 seconds .....
    4) I do not have sound in all the applications - I rally wanted to use a SopCast applicatin (Online TV) and I do not have sound!!?

If you have any solution for this 4 issues, please do not hesitate to send me a hint !
    Thank you in advance!

    Bets regards

    1) I have a MK808 connected to my Linksys router with WPA2 security. I had trouble connecting my first few times. I had to put my password in a text file on a microSD card and copy it over.

I actually moved the antennas from inside the unit to the outside through a hardware mod. It helped me go from ~15 Mbps to 54 Mbps. Though you may want to try a more powerful USB adapter (see below) first. My unit was/is behind my Samsung TV (5-10 meters from my router) and that didn't make a difference in WiFi reception.

    2) A lot of people are getting poor connections/weak reception with the MK808. I would first suggest upgrading to the Oct26 rom from either Deadhp1 or Finless Bob. The upgrade seems to help with the WiFi issues and fixes some resolution people were having.

Also, some people are stating that using a different USB power adapter is necessary, as the one supplied by some vendors isn't powerful enough. (I believe Geekbuying upgraded their adapters when purchased) Read around on the forums for the correct specs but I'd assume something that powers the iPhone, Android phone, etc would be good.

    3) I have no flicker issues with my Samsung Smart TV and the MK808. This may be due to the resolution setting being set to the incorrect frequency? 50 Hz vs 60 Hz? Perhaps you can change this in the Settings > Screen > HDMI Mode and see if that solves the issue. In addition, I would recommend upgrading to either the Oct26 stock Deadhp1 or custom Finless 1.5 Bob roms as they help with resolution issues.

    4) Sorry no real ideas on sound. I have used Tv-Links on XBMC on the MK808 and some of the links had sound and some didn't. TV-Links is a streaming tv show site.

In summary: Upgrade USB power adapter, Upgrade rom, Check HDMI frequency. Hopefully something I said may help. Good Luck!

        Hi
I have exactly the same problem as you described - no sound when using the Online TV app. I've installed the 1.5a finless rom but still did not resolve the issue.
Are u still having this issue?

        Many Thanks

            Hi Bob,

Thanks for this. I do not seem to have any issues with the Wifi signal so far, I've only had this for 3 days.
My only problem with it is the fact that I have no sound when using this Online TV App for watching romanian channels. It requires Sopcast and MX Player, loads the picture just fine but no sound whatsoever. I've got the same app on my phone HTC one x, android 4.0.4 and it works fine.
Do you think that the quick fix you suggested would resolve this? I'm more inclined to think it is something to do with the android version 4.1.1 that is currently running on my MK808. Is there a way to install 4.0.4 on the MK808?
            Thanks in advance
            Vlad
