    RK3188 Q7 Box can't play MKV 720p/1080p

Hey guys, I can't seem to play 1080p mkv's at all with this device. It's a Q7 "XT-Q7V-V10" to be exact.

I have tried TVMC, Beyond XBMC, Kodi and overclocked kernel, nothing.

It's "Kitkat" (Not really full KitKat AFAIK) I think is the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I have seen threads that say it's possible to downgrade to JB and it does work there. I am completely unsure of what to do here. This is a major issue as I have really bad internet and can almost never stream. This box has been useless to me so far, was very surprised it could not play MKV well.

If anyone can shed some light on this I'd be quite happy. Thanks!

    Fixed!

SPMC works. You need RKlibstagefright to be installed in XBMC and enabled with XBMC too.

You will however need to have a build.prop editor installed so you can edit it quickly and get proper 1080p output of SPMC but once you have done this:

"Adding "sys.ui.fakesize = 1920x1080" to the build.prop solved the boxed effect. Now I can use 1080 kernel, RKstagefright and full screen videos."

SPMC allows a true 1080p output in SPMC, it can even be used as a launcher. I would like to know if apps launch in 1080p when SPMC is used as a launcher.

Anyways. Have fun. When I get all I have learned together I will make a tutorial to make the XT-Q7v-v10 Q7's useful.

Although its meant for Streaming content from the web, Sopcast app can play MKV very smoothly.

not on the playstore. quick google will find it
