Questions on Polaroid 7" tablet

Hi everyone.

I got a Polaroid Rainbow MIDC407PR003 7" Tablet (a very cheap one). It has some strange slow-downs, so I intendet to root it (for overclocking) or, at least, install a new coocked rom.

So here are the questions...

1. Is there a way to root this tablet? I tried everything i knew, for tablet, from Windows etc. but nothing worked (it seems like no driver was good for this model to be recognized by the rooting software).

2. Are there some coocked roms available for this model? It is very similar to other Polaroid (and other chinese brands) models... Can I use some roms made for other Polaroid 7" models?

Many of these tablets are already fully rooted when you buy them. Before you do anything which could end up un-rooting it (this happened to me), get an app like RootChecker(?) which will tell you if it is rooted.

I checked with Root Checker Basic v. 5.0.3. The result was:

If this can be of some help, the tablet we are speacking of is sowed here on Polaroid website:

The site shows MIDC407PR002, while I got the MIDC407PR003 (the white one) but, as I can see, there seems to be no difference between the two models.

The Polaroid name is licensed to whomever wants to pay for it. In the US, it's used by Southern Telecom for their line of no-name tablets. Whether the same is true in Europe is anyone's guess. Your "Polaroid" tablet could be completely different from anything we've ever seen on this side of the Atlantic. It may not even have an Allwinner chip in it, in which case none of the ROMs we use will be of any use to you.

S.T. doesn't show a MIDC407 but it does have a fairly new "704". You may want to check out their website to see if this is your tablet: http://www.southerntelecom.com/polaroidsupport/

Start with the 'User Guides' page (note: ignore the links at the top - instead, scroll down the page to the second set). If you really do have one of these tablets, I'd suggest you move on to the 'Updates' page where you can download the stock ROM for your model. You may even want to try flashing it - it's not a bad idea to learn how before you brick your tablet. Plus, once you're back to the way it came from the factory, you can try Root Checker again. Like I said above, I had root access (though I didn't know it) until I tried to root it. Reflashing it restored root.

i just buy this tablette with google play ond ICS 4.0.1 but can't root it . Somebody has already rooted one ? I have tried some root programs like DooMLoRD but only QQphone manager recognize it and begin to root but can't install busybox. And it is a japaneze prog . Any help ?
