Tronsmart R28 - Complete dissapointment

After you use it I would like for you to share how well it it performs on your device so I can compare your experiences with mine. I have it on both my pro and meta r28. I have installed most roms that have been available on this forum for this device and so far this is my choice.

The remote that came with the R28 works correctly.

It seems I could very well try this one out...

The only remaining doubts are:

1) Same flashing procedure for this ut3 rom?

2) No future OTA? (seems more than logic, anyway as it seems, more and more each passing day, that the hopes of future "official" updates are fading away... )

3) How to root? (Un)luckily every other rom tried on this (and similar devices) had been already pre-rooted... I have read something about a "Ugoos root menu" in setting and, obviously we cannot expect to find it working on Tronsmart R28... any idea?

Use same flashing procedure as ut3, use root method in settings. it works on R28. I have no idea about future OTA.

Flashing any ROM from another vendor would not realistically come with hope for any OTA update that is specific to anothers hardware.

With many of these boxes sharing the same PCB though, an OTA for one may potentially work with another but it could just never be expected to do so.

The Tronsmart Orion and the ubox R89 seem to be EXACTLY the same board. http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post230179

My Pro version has the tipex and Tronsmart sticker over the top on the pcb too. So im thinking the ubox rom should be a perfect fit?

Both of my boxes were first released devices and the original remote that came with both are the same. No problems with remote.

So i just played around with the ut3 firmware on my tronsmart r28

pros

*nice launcher (can i download this somewhere maybe?)
*menu seems more fluid

cons

*after reboot, the remote doesn't work anymore, very strange
*red light doesn't appear when entering suspend mode


playback seems the same as stock rom
i applied the initd nostutter fix, it also works in this rom

overall not worth it i think

i'm hoping wasser comes with an update soon with tronsmart remote control working and build in stutter fix

Yes a few have exactly the same board but have slightly different things added by each vendor that may or not be of benefit.

I have a first generation device too but along the way Tronsmart released a new remote and stated that the original would not work in later firmware releases, so issued replacements via the supply vendors available on request.

Confirm the Stock remote for the R28 does not work with the UT3 firmware. I have a V3 board with the updated Tronsmart Remote.

Went back to the stock Tronsmart Firmware

When I get my Mele F10 Deluxe remote I'll consider this one again.
