So my question is, the difference on price between r89 and HPH is enough for pay more?

can i flash your firmware on beelink r89?
Yes you can use his firmware on a r89.

The main difference is the HPH has a faster emmc, specifically read speed. Which means things load much faster and boots much quicker.

If XBMC/kodi is the only thing you'll use it for, maybe you should consider a raspberry Pi 2?

It's not to say the r89 is really slow, but compared to the HPH. The HPH is quicker. They both play media just fine as long as you're using a custom rom.

The stock firmware on the r89 is terrible. So if the HPH is not in your budget, the r89 with a custom rom is a good choice.

Thanks you very much. I appreciate your feedback.
Well i looking for an easy-to-use box for all my family. With android boxes my wife and my daugter can use it and can connect a PS3 controller for use it in games. They have a android mobile phones and for their are easy to understand how to use it.
Maybe for me RBPi2 is better solution.
      Sure i will choose R89.

Thank you to all for your help.

Finally I bought new Beelink R89 and during past weekened I done some test with it.
I know that It is not the perfect box, but I'm unhappy with its behavior. I've tested all customs roms and Officials but any of them works perfect.
1.- HDMI-CEC is not present. Offical roms claimed that has this feature. Fake.
2.- With eMediacenter i cannot stream MKV from my android phone. Really? My old amlgoic MX can do that.
3.- Wifidisplay has a lot of lag.
4.- Claimed with 4K support, but the mediaplayer can not play in good conditions a 1080p movie.
5.- But the big issues is....the sound cuts off if doesn't is playing and then when sounds agains there's some lag. IS very evident in Spotify, if u pause the song, wait 3 seconds, audio stops, and then when your resume there's a lag of some seconds unitl sounds again.

Maybe the ROM is no finish, but with a product with some months old i think it is not permissible. I don't know if Amlogic S812 has the same issues, but for now i will return this box to amazon.

        Thanks all for your support.

HDMI-CEC does not work with any RK3288 box...It's really annoying.
            2. Do you get an error? I don't know how different an r89 is to an r28 meta, but I can stream those without issues.

            3. How much lag? Mirroring is not 1:1 it has a 1 second lag.

            4. The problem with most stock firmware on rk3288 boxes are buggy and pretty bad. HPH has decent stock firmware but the real way to have no stutters is custom roms. Look into Wasser's rom or wait sometime today or tomorrow for Mo's new rom on the way.

            5. Never experienced this, but it does sound like a firmware issue as opposed to a hardware issue. These boxes are similar with the exception that the more expensive ones has a much faster EMMC, It's amazing how much different firmware is on these boxes even though some share the same pcb. It can either enhance or kill the experience.

I Got my Pi 2 a few days ago, extremely smooth playback with OpenElec. If Linux 3d acceleration gets enabled on the rk3288, we can install openelec on it and actually take advantage of the hardware.

I guess the only way for that to happen is keep pressing these companies to release a 3d driver for the rk3288

It's chinese New years so nothing will happen until the after the 24th. So realistically, I'm not expecting any real improvements until March.
