mk809iv is not working, won't connect to computer

    Hi everyone,

Disclaimer: I'm an idiot and probably have done everything that should not be done, now nothing works.

I'm new to all of this Android stuff and screwed up my mk809iv stick while trying to root it. I'm not sure what direction to take now so i figured I'd ask.

    I have this stick

I tired flashing it with the EZ Root tool (http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...8-EZ-Root-Tool). As i had read in a guide that it could work for my stick. It didn't

The stick got stuck in a boot loop. It went from the "smartbox" screen to "Android robot with belly opened" screen and back to "smartbox" indefinitely.

I had trouble finding a factory image and though this would possibly work http://ugoos.net/ugoos-mk809iv-rk3188 . the andriod 4.4 firmware for MK809IV one.

So i got the 1.7 rockchip batchtool and drivers, connected the stick to my computer holding down the reset button and the computer recognized it, i loaded the image and clicked "restore". A bunch on lines flew by and the final one was restore failed or something like that.

Now the stick won't boot when connected to the television, the computer won't recognize it anymore, and I don't know what to do...

I don't know if it is relevant but I am on mac, running a virtual PC with windows XP on Parallels. And before all of this the USB debugging was not checked on the stick.

So what do i do now? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Thanks you. That doesn't seem to be the board i have.

Here is what is written on the board: TEAN E120339, then underneath it is written 1LM0-V94Δ LR (but it is written backwards on board) and there is 1514 written on the side of those numbers.

      Chip is Rockchip RK3188-T SCAU3444 1440

chip on other side of the board: SK hynix H27UCGBT2ETR BC 426A

Finding a ROM that is known to work would be excellent, but I still have the problem of the computer not recognizing the stick. I can't install anything on the PC's at work but I brought the stick and tried connecting it to the PC to see if the driver install window would come up. The PC at work didn't recognize the stick either...

Thanks again, any help is appreciated!

Can anyone help with this? I haven't had any chance when plugging it into the computer... I am doing the standard procedure of holding the reset button and plugging the OTG micro usb (the one besides the SD card slot) and the computer does not detect the stick (it detected it once before i tried a flash, and since then nothing). I went to disk management to see if it was just not assigning a letter to the drive but it wasn't there.

I just reinstalled everything on my computer (intel mac), I will do a fresh install of windows maybe tomorrow. Can anyone point me into a direction as to being able to hook up the stick to my computer? I tried looking around but found nothing to help me. There are a lot of tools and driver packages out there, should i be looking for one in particular for this stick?

I'll worry about finding a ROM later but for now I can't even hook up the damn thing...

Also, if I buy another stick, what should I buy? I am still going to try and fix this one, but it would be nice to have a backup. I just need a stick to stream netflix/youtube and random stuff so I don't need the best stick out there. It would be nice if I could root the thing so i could get rid of youtube's adds

People seem to have troubles with the mk809iv, and there doesn't seem to be any roms for it. Do I buy the same one and eventually there will be roms? If not what is a good option? I just want it to be stable and be easy to root. Mk808? Or what is a good, simple and cheap tv box, that there are roms and support out there for?

Here are some shitty pictures of the stick if it helps anything.

        Again, thanks for any help.

I have tried booting from an SD card with roms that are said to be working with my stick. But none of them work (as in i haven't even been able to boot from a rom).

Is it possible that i wiped the stick clean? it wont connect to any computer, when I try to boot from an SD card while holding the reset button, nothing happens. If the stick is wiped, is there a way to re-upload some drivers (or firmware, or whatever, I suck at this...) on it so that i can connect to a computer?

I have tried different roms, do i have to rename them for the stick to boot from them? or just leave them with the name they already have? does renaming a rom to, say "recovery.img", somehow makes the stick booth from it?

I am really stumped (and new to all of this) any help is appreciated. Is it possible that I ****ed it up so bad that there is nothing to do? what are my options?

          Thanks!
