what stick to buy/ what to do when pc won't detect stick anymore

So i bought a MK809iv (red slider) stick on geekbuying. I tried flashing a ROM onto it with rkbatchtool 1.7 (with the usb drivers that came in the package) and now the pc won't detect my stick. I tried to use disk manager to check if the drive was detected just not mounted. The PC does not detect the stick anymore.

I have no idea where to start with this. I have been looking around as to what to do in this situation, but haven't found anything... Can anyone tell me where to look or what i should search for or do when this happens? As of now, even if I find a rom that works, I'm still screwed because i cant connect the stick to the PC...

In the mean time, since I am having trouble with my mk809iv, I am considering buying another stick as a backup or if i can't get my mk809iv to work.

What stick is a good cheap option, has working roms out, is easy to root and is stable? I see a lot of people having trouble with sticks and there are a lot of options, making the choice confusing...

I just want to use it for streaming. With xbmc or whatever works. netflix and youtube for my kids cartoons (i want to remove adds from youtube so i don't ahve to skip ad every 6 minutes). Ideally it could stream in 1080p.

    I'm looking at this : http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Trons...ck-318432.html

or this (is it better to use a tv box??): http://www.geekbuying.com/item/T-R42...ck-317424.html

or anyhting cheaper that would do the job. Should i just buy the mk809iv again? i can't seem to find roms for it though...

Thanks, any help is appreciated, as I am really blocked on the mk809iv and am having a hard time finding a replacement option...

Did you try a different USB cable or USB port on the computer. I wasted a whole evening trying to use the stock cable on my MK809III, which has a similar board to yours. The stock cable is good to plug into the tv and power it, but not enough for debugging or flashing.

Be sure to back up your stock rom before flashing. You never know what might happen.

Yes I did (different cable and port, Ill try to find another cable just in case), I also tried the stick on the computer at work. I can't install driver or anything at work, but I wanted to check if the computer would recognize the stick and ask for drivers. It did not.

I have tried the EZ-root tool and it got stuck in boot loop, tried to flash another ROM with rkbatchtool 1.7 and then i couldn't mount the stick to the PC anymore. USB debugging was not checked before all of this...

I think I might be screwed...

I just ordered a mk808B-plus as it seems there are roms for it and the price was good. I'll still try to get the mk809iv to work thought.

      Thanks!
