[U65GT] Resize the APP Partition to 16 GB or more?

    Hi,

i am new to this forum. I will receive in the next few days my Cube U65GT. I read, that some have expand the APP partition from 2 GB to 6 GB. Is it also possible to expand it to 16 GB ? I have to install a lot of Apps, because this tablet will be for a few months my main computing device.
So this is my question, because 2 GB are not enough for all my apps.

    Thanks so far.

If you flash the EBR1 and EBR2 (4GB or 6GB) files from 900SuperSport rom package you can expand your app space to max 6Gb. If you root your tablet you can use Link2Sd app and link (note: linking is better than transfer) your apps to sd-card.

First you need to make two partions to your sd card (for example if you have 32Gb sd card you can make 3Gb exFat and 29Gb ext4/ext3/ext2). Then you can link your apps to sd card 29Gb partion. Then you have 2Gb (stock app space) + 30Gb app space. You can also use that 3Gb from sd card (exFAT) as normal.

You have to have always two partions on your sd card when you use Link2Sd. If you want as much app space as possible you can make the exFat part very small. I have used 128Mb as smallest exFat part.

How to format exfat & ext4 on microSD

      First, excuse my bad English

I've tried to follow the steps given above. I have a 64 Gb microSD card. I made 2 partitions on Ubuntu, but Ubuntu does no let me to give exFAT format (only FAT & FAT32). I formatted the first partition as FAT and the second as EXT4.

Then, on Windows, I reformatted the first partition to exFAT.

But when inserting the microSD on the tablet, it says it's not formatted and ask me to format it. Then it formats the full 64 Gb to FAT32.

      What I'm doing wrong?

      TIA

I haven't actually tried bigger than 32Gb but bigger sd card should also be working. Did you try with FAT32 or NTFS? If you make for example 32Gb FAT32/NTFS and 32Gb ext2/ext3/ext4 what does the Link2Sd app say when you open it (sd card plugged in)?

Maybe you could try first with small sd card (1Gb for example). Make two partions (500Mb + 500Mb). This is important: Make both of them as primary and make the first partition FAT32/NTFS and second partition ext2/ext3/ext4.

You can also check this. Remember: Do not link Link2Sd app to sd card! Use as fast sd card as you can get. Faster sd card --> faster device!

Thanks Vohukain for your fast reply and the link to the XDA tutorial.

It seems the problem was creating the exFat partition, but with Mini Partition Tool was easy (though not as fast as doing with Gparted).

I now have a 8 Gb FAT32 partition and another around 52 Gb. With the last mod from Lepi for Cube Talk 9X U65GT only ext4 works with Link2SD.

Now I am short of time, but I'll check carefully how to do the second part (install apps to my external microSD). I'm not sure what to select on Settings/Storage on the tablet and I must search for more info about "Create link". Also thinking on trying INT2EXT4 instead of Link2SD.

Does Link2Sd work now for you? You can check this video (scroll down the website). The website is written in Finnish but the video can be helpfull.

So i saw the Forum compilation, about the files ebr1 and ebr2 to increase the partitions to 16 GB. Has anyone tried a bigger Partition ? Like 27 oder 21 GB ? Or is on a octa Core SoC 16 GB the real Maximum ?

this i mean, can it be bigger ?
                      4) New Editing Primary Partition to 13,19Gb (max possible on octa core) for KitKat O.S. (Mtk 6592 - 16gb).

Our Cube talk9x has MTK8392, and looked at this link. There are 3 options (Mtk 6589 or Mtk6592 or Mtk 6582) ... What patch we have to use us?
