Just recieved my test freakboxes to review; my feedback is as follows:
Build quality
I think the packaging could quite easily be improved. The packaging should proudly shout Freakbox all over it. I'm guessing this will be addressed before general release.
The unit feels nice and heavy, which users will associate with a good build quality. The "Android" on the top needs to be replaced with Freakbox or at least say 'Powered by Freaktab' in the corner.
Remote
The remote feels heavily and responds better than an M8N square remote, but the finish needs to be worked on. Setup shortcuts on the coloured buttons and label them. On my unit, the "Settings" button, goes home.
Volume + and - do not work. Mute does.
Unit LED
This needs improving. LED should be a positive colour when on, such as blue or green. Red is a negative colour which people associate with being switched off. If the goal is to fit it in with the sites asthetics, then set orange as on and red as off
Lock Screen
This is a pain, get rid of this. Had to plug in a wireless mouse to get round the screen. Bob assures me this is going in the next update.. Great
Screen timeout
After 120 seconds the box enters a powersave. The only way to recover is to press the power button.
Missing Apps
Device really needs a browser, be browser.apk or chrome.apk
SPMC
Playback is really choppy. Enabled BigBuckBunny and messed with the playback settings, still had choppy playback in 1080p playback.
