    composite video out problem

    Hello,
I have an MXiii box running mediaman 110k4 rom, amlogic m8 (meson8).

Everything works well aside from analog video out via yellow rca.
All I get is rolling black and white video.
This is after rebooting with only the rca cable connected. Also tried on 3 different tv's.
    HDMI auto detect is off.

I was hoping to use my projector for some huge outdoor viewing.

Any ideas? Perhaps a different rom?

    Thanks in advance

Sounds like PAL vs. NTCS ????

      It does.

I am curious if it is within the rom and only present on the composite output.

or... is it hardware related regardless of the rom.

      Thanks

        FYI

        Flashed with Finless 2.1 rom

        Same problem exists.

I did confirm that composite output is PAL.

Does anyone know if this can be changed to NTSC via software / rom ?
          Or is it hardware controlled?

          Thanks

I don't own it any longer, but if I'm not wrong, you can change it at settings....

That's it! You have to boot with the AV cable connected ( and maybe disconnect HDMI also ). You will see settings: 576 is PAL, lower res is American standard ( always asked myself why the hell in this only field Americans didn't do it better ! )
              Regards

When booting with only composite connected to a tv, it detects as 576 pal.

There is a setting for 480 but, it is still pal standard.

On a good note. My projector will display pal, The older tv's in the house won't.

If I solve the issue, I will post it up.

                BTW
I am in the market for another box. Since my 3 current boxes seem to have limitations, do you have any suggestions on a quality box?
Any preferred processor / ram / rom combo I should look for?

                Thanks in advance

It's difficult to answer without any information about "seem to have limitations" ...

Problems with the current MX3 2g ram, 8g rom boxes I have:

Poor ethernet speeds - wifi much better than lan.
Wifi network dropped constantly (much better since 110k4 rom but still present)
All 3 had power supply failures within weeks.
No NTSC output at composite. (would be nice to bring box to the cottage for the weekends in summer)
Constant buffering issues with XBMC and Youtube. (I have installed advancesettings.xml in xbmc)

All in all, I am overall happy with the current boxes considering the price - just would like better and/or more reliable if available.
                    Any opinions appreciated.

I can't belief that the MXIII isn't able to support NTSC...

Anyway... If I look at my UBOX 2/8GB RK3288 I have at settings (If I connect it via AV-cable+scart-adapter to my TV)
                      CVBS: PAL (which is 576i)
                      CVBS: NTSC (which is 480i)
and both work at my TV....

"Wifi network dropped constantly" could also be because of router/channel problems and/or interferences e.g. with wireless keyboard usb-dongle (you should use an usb-extension-cord of hub to place it as fare as possible away from the box)...?
"Constant buffering issues with XBMC and Youtube" could also be because of bad connection...?
I think so, because if it will be a general problem you will read more often about it....

The NTSC / PAL issue does seem strange. If I disable HDMI "auto detect" and power the box connected to any analog tv in my house, all output is PAL.
When I connect to my projector, it detects PAL and the box sets itself as 576 CVBS.
There are 2 options available on mbox settings - I changed to 480i and confirm change.
When next booted on analog tv, it defers to the CVBS 576 PAL setting. My hopes are to force default as NTSC when connected via composite.

One thing not tried yet. Hot swap (no power interrupt) composite cable after I change to 480i when connected to projector.

                        As for wifi
I have tried a number of different channels with my router.
The box experiencing the problem uses a bluetooth keyboard so, no radio dongle nearby. It could still be interference due to other wifi devices (ipods, iphones, laptop, etc) nearby. This box is in my daughter's room so, all sorts of things connected via wifi.
I ended up running a lan cable to this box - seems to be ok other than slower connection speeds. Ethernet speeds max out at 15 m/s while wifi usually maxes out at 25 plus (I pay for 25).
The slower speeds are isolated to just the box. I shut off radio within the router and booted with just one single box connected via ethernet and 15 m/s was max.

Thanks for the heads up on the UBOX. I will check it out for my next box.

BT uses same 2.4 Ghz band, as these boxes doesn't have a 5 Ghz wifi band, my Sir, you have to lengthen the wire if you use a bt special dongle, otherwise ( direct BT to the box ) no solution . Or open the box and route the WiFi antenna in a different position!

Bluetooth is in the box, no dongle. I never thought to unpair and shut off bluetooth to test wifi.
                            That does explain the problems.
My reason for bluetooth keyboard due to having two boxes in rooms next to each other.

                            Thanks for the info

                              Hello mpj220!
Still no clear solution on the NTSC / PAL issue?. I am having the same problem, and no way in the box settings to set output to 480i.
