[u65gt] Modern Combat 5 extrem slow, unplayable, how are your experiences ?

Hi,

i flashed the Rom 2.0.3 from Lepi, a few days ago. I did this direct, after i received my U65GT. I install so far all my apps. So far so good. All is running fine. Yesterday i started to install my games. Asphalt 8 is running fine on high Settings, GTA Chinatown Wars is running fine. Then i tested Modern Combat 5. I was really shocked.The game is running at around 10-15 fps. I also have some shadow glitches.

It Shows that Modern Combat 5 is running really well on this SoC type.

So now i want to find out, is it the custom Rom why it is so unplayable or the high resolution of the display ?

How are your experiences ?

I haven't tested it yet (I might later if I can remember to do so) but keep in mind that while the CPU on this device is pretty good, the GPU is somewhat outdated. And if I had to guess, it sounds like the game relies a great deal on the GPU.

I downloaded GLTools, which allowed me to tweak the game and emulate other GPU´s . I found out, that the only way to run the game at around 27-30 fps in the full resolution of the display, is to deactivate AA and set gpu fake to Adreno 320. All other GPU Fake´s had slower FPS rates by the same settings.

The problem with the MALI 450MP in this tablet will be the graphic settings, even when I change ingame to better performance, I still have the full blown graphic effects, which slows down the fps to 8-14 fps.

When I decrease the resolution with gltools, the FPS will increase. 0,5x settings, in resolution give me around 26-30 fps. but its a little bit pixelated.

Yes, with the adreno 320 fake GPU emulation you will have no special effects, but the game has around 25-30 FPS in the full resolution. Maybe someone else will try some different settings to boost the experience with more effects.

Well, looks like you figured out the problem.

I wanted to try and test this with my device just now but it seems MC5 isn't for free and I don't feel like paying for a game I will never play just to test it. :P

You can also send an email to the developer of the game so they will fix the problem in a future update. Maybe retina resulotion is indeed too much for mali 450mp4 specially in demanding 3d games.

Also (google is always your friend) I found out that there is a specially fix for modern combat 5 for mali gpu. Google "Modern-combat-5-apk-mod-gpu-mali" and you will find the solution to your problem
