    Woo Hoo - Netflix plays in HD on this box!

    Yes folks... first box I ever had that will do Netflix in HD.

    Did the El Fuente 60MP test video and it went up to
    5800 kbps
    1920x1080
    PAR 1:1


    So, there you have it! No need to ask me anymore

    This morning I was just thinking of asking about Netflix because no TV box discussion is complete without a Netflix thread .
    Did you use Netflix app from MS store or IE11. How about Dolby Digital Plus audio?

      One more reason why Windows will be preferable to Android.

        I get Dolby Digital Plus over HDMI with the Win 8.1 Netflix App on the X7. You need to select it as a separate language stream.

        If you have a 24p-friendly display you can also select 23Hz refresh rate in the Intel graphics drivers to give you playback without 3:2 cadence judder.

        Works very well - I had one total freeze on the first clip I played (S01E01 House of Cards US)

          My test this AM was IE11. I did not even know there was an "APP for that"

          Going to try that now.

            Windows 8.1 has lots of apps just like Android and IOS over on the Metro side of things. Obviously not so much selection because Microsoft are just nuts (create office for IOS before their own OS) but more than you would expect if new to 8.1. There are loads of streaming TV apps there for example.

              As I said in another post, this box is a "game changer"!

              Not that I like Windows but sheesh..... this can change a lot of things!

                Only the app has Dolby Digital Plus option. On browsers, it will be stereo audio only.

                You can try the below key combination when playing any video and get realtime streaming bitrate/resolution, streaming CDN and a bunch of other information.

                Ctrl-Alt-Shift-D

                  Mine told me the current and buffered A/V bitrate with that keycode but not the resolution as far as I could see. I may have missed it.

                    You haven't enabled HTML5 in your Netflix account. When it plays in HTML5, that is when it gives you the extra bunch

                    Hmm.. I can't find that setting in my account. It used to be there before.

                      In netflix search the video El Fuente and pick the one of the last ones in the list called 60MP.

                      These are Netflix test videos that tell you the resolution and bandwidth
                      Then do the Ctrl-Alt-Shift-D

                        Ah - does HTML5 work in the app? I'm using the App to get DD+ audio.

                        Not sure the El Fuente clips are in the UK Netflix collection, when I've looked for them in the past they weren't.

                          Ctrl-Alt-Shift-D works on all videos
                          Ctrl-Alt-Shift-S allows you to choose the CDN server.

                            Google example short 23.976 The reddit link has all available test clips listed. It will take you directly to Netflix (on browser).

                              Bottom line PERIOD! I have had just about every Android system out there.... Netflix if your into that is the best on this box period! No Android box I have owned even comes close!
