    Making 8.1 more like 7

For those of you who claim to hate 8.1 here's a guide to making it play more like Windows 7:

Windows 8.1 makes the modern interface more useful than ever before—but it also makes it easier for desktop diehards to banish the modern UI completely.

Stop trying... I played with Win 10 Preview quite a bit the last 2 days. I like where it is going.... KIND OF.....

Install Windows 10 preview. Works pretty well for a preview!

What driver do you need? If I were to guess it's the Ethernet?
I had to rip that one from the stock 8.1 Win install.

Anyway I have them all and working so let me know what you need.

I have a video coming but here are the basics.

FIRST MAKE A RECOVERY USB MEMORY STICK so you can go back!

              1) Download the Win 10 Preview 32bit from MS. Get the ISO!
              2) Get a program called Rufus
              3) Use rufus to make the ISO on a USB memory stick. In Rufus just stick with the defaults on everything AFTER you choose the ISO file.
              4) Plug in the USB stick.
              5) Go into control panel and click the recovery icon (set control panel view by category to small icons so you can see everything).
              6) In the recovery menu at the bottom click "If your experiencing problems with your PC, you can refresh it in PC settings".
              7) In here click the bottom advanced "Restart Now" button.
              8) In here click "Use a device".
              9) In here click "UEFI: Removable Drive"

The system will then reboot and the installer will load.
              1) Go on from there and select install now.
              2) In here select custom install
              3) This screen shows the partitions. The largest one should be about 23.8 GB. Select this.
              4) Click the format button and let it format.
              5) When it is done select that partition again and click next.

              Windows 10 should now install

I'm gonna try this after the bets is released. Do you have the various drivers somewhere so I could grab hem. I am very interested to see how Kodi performs for me.

Thanks for the tip on Rufus -- I had been using Unetbootin previously, but this looks faster.

Nah I got Ethernet, it's just coming up as "universal serial bus (USB)" which I figured would would have been sorted out when I installed the Intel chipset drivers but didn't.

Thanks to rrileypm the drivers can be found here: http://www.freak-tab.de/rrileypm/x7/X7_Drivers.rar
This is the driver package I used and have that one driver not found, don't stress about it too much though, I'll sort it out when I have more time to actually work with the box .

Hang tight. I will upload my driver pack that has all the drivers and nothing more. Some of those in Randy's are not for this device.

And yes I get to where noting is missing.

                        Give me about 30 minutes.

I have several regular dvd drives and a USB IDE interface. Wondering if that would work to install win 10?
