    Should I return Tronsmart s89h

I should receive it in the mail this week and after reading all these issues with overheating I'm wondering if I paid for a heat rock? I would hate to waste money on a product that overheats with minimal use. So many good android boxes coming out. It's too bad because I am really excited for my first android box s89-h. I don't want to have to make mods to a brand new unit. Anyone have good experience with these boxes?

Its the luck of the draw.
My first one developed the dreaded hdmi issue in three days and went back.
Took 5 months to get a new one which turned out to be a repaired unit with the wrong heatsink and the same hdmi issue.

I replaced the heatsink which is only held on by plastic clips just like motherboard chip-set heatsinks.

The hdmi issue required me to so a little re-soldering but now it just hums along.

You can check to see if the heat-sink came loose b popping the plastic feet of and unscrewing the three screws.
There is a antenna wire connected to the top from the board so don't yank.

Frankly though geekbuying has know about the issue for nearly a year and continues to sell defective boxes so you never know if you get a good one or a dud.

As a company i stay away from them there not all that honest.

I have one running since a month.
I don't play any games on it, which might make a difference, but it runs very cold.

Ya I feel like I shouldn't have to take it apart. If I do I will be pissed off. I guess this is my test for geekbuying. If they fail I will never use them again. I do plan on watching movies and playing emulators. If I do have to take the lid off I will look to the forums for support. Thanks for the reply

Mine has worked fine since June 2014. I use it regularly to stream movies via Wifi from my computer using XBMC. So far it has never overheated on me and I have no complaints so far.

With any product a dud now and then is expected but with geekbuying it seems to be the norm .

The only upside is that the issues for the most part were user fixable.

I bought one at the beginning of the year.

It worked fine for a week, then it suddenly turned off while listening to music through my DLNA server.

Touching the case it seemed to be quiet warm.

Now there is no way to turn it on.

I'm quite disappointed, because I also bought a touch screen monitor, just to use it with such TVBOX, ad also an usb dvb-t tuner.

I hope geekbuying will send me a replacement as soon as possible... hoping that the new one will work longer.
