Sorry I'm always bugging you for links SD, but I'm sure others who are having issues would like to know which power supply you bought.

Volts can be correct, however, the power supply's output could be dirty or distorted. Digital devices are very sensitive to dirty power. An O'scope would be required to check for that. Trying a different power supply will be cheaper than acquiring an O'scope. Switching type power adapters are generally very clean, however, poor quality control or a run of bad components can affect output clarity.

I don't own this box, so I cannot really help. Except to say, even if you find a plug that fits, make certain that the Tip polarity is correct. Serious damage can occur otherwise.

Actually my main problem is to assess the power plug size/standard.
The stock PS is labelled "Pipo" without any model/part no. ... so specifications are not available.
I have another PS that fits and i am using the specs of this one.
I am crossing my fingers.

you are very right and this is indeed what drives me crazy.
Why in the world is so difficult to find and agreement on sizes/standards ... this is insane, not rational.
Silly world we live.
There are connectors out there able to carry high A and low V with excellent quality.
I am not that good at DIY if not i would replace the receptacle on the pcb myself.
Maybe one day ...

Connector size is often listed in the format OD (outer diameter) x ID (inner diameter) x L (length of barrel and expressed in millimeters). Designations may vary between manufacturers.
Coaxial plugs that have a male center pin will have another measurement, Center Pin Diameter (CPD). These plugs are often used for higher power applications such as portable computers.

Well, things are actually simpler than you may probably think.
You just have to measure three dimensions and use some appropriate connectors.
If you do not want to replace any connectors, you can also find appropriate converters.

Unfortunately i am not able to measure the noise of the tenth of PS i will have at hand shortly.
The sane approach would be to select the best ones and use in case one of this converters ?
However a 2.1x5.5 mm male power plug works ok ! so i assume this is the size.
I am not an electronic engineer but i think that contact surface should increase with the current
So i would expect for low voltages application, 3 max 4 different sizes ... and stop !
All the other efforts should be to keep tolerances, selecting the right materials, etc.
Many manufacture have gone a long way introducing absurd size of power plugs to force people to use their power supply.
