What is the LED for...

Hello, If you look in the photo, on the lower left is an LED. I see the IR RX to it's right. The power LED is in the black tube to the right of these two components. So what is the purpose of the LED?
BTW Photo is an HPH, but UT3 is the same in this regard.

I know the board makes a blue light when it's turned on but not of other lights.

On the UT3, the power indicating LED(blue) is in the middle of the front, well clear of the IR window. So the LED to the left of the IR receiver seems a mystery.
I don't need to know, but my curiosity is growing.

Yes its IR emission LED, can be used to control other devices with IR receiver. But software for this still not ready.
