Hello folks,
Reviving an old thread here, hoping that someone can help.
I have the same box that I have bought in 2013 from Geekbuying. The only tiny difference is that is says "1331" on the PCB instead of "1332" The rest is identical (ids, chips...). I have used it with the stock 4.2.2 firmware until now, but it's getting old and I'm losing support for some of my favourites programs. I've found a whole lot of Kitkat firmwares supposedly for this box, but none work:
- flashing is OK but the box bootloops at the initial boot logo, I can see attempts to format the data partitions from the recovery across reboots, but eventually it keeps bootlooping or remains stuck at the bootlogo forever
or:
- flash fails (error downloading firmware) and then I have to flash the stock firmware (RK3188_BOX_Kingnoval_K-R42-1_NEUTRAL_8188EU_20130702_B.img) TWICE to recover it: first attemps fails with "IDT download failed", then when I reset the box it goes blue in RK BatchTool, but second attempt to flash it succeeds
I'm very confused. Everything I read says that if a given firmware for one of this box's variants is not the exact one, the worst that can happen is Wifi and/or LAN not working. Well, that's not what I'm seeing obviously.
Would anyone please share hints? is there a specific procedure to do the upgrade from the stock 4.2.2 firmware to a 4.4 version? (I use RK Batch Tool 1.6/1.7 and tried both the [Restore] and [Upgrade] buttons)
Can anyone point me at a firmware that could possibly work? I think I've tried almost all the ones I could find: the ones on chinagadgetsreview.com, the Wasser series, Hybrid series, both the ones intended for the K-R42 and the ones for the T-R42 because I've read that besides Bluetooth not working (obviously) I could try them...
Thanks in advance for any help.
