    slow WiFi on square M8

Hi All, We have an M8N and an M8 (k200 model) and the WiFi on them appears to be slow (5-10mbit max on a 25mbit connection). The problem doesn't seem to be with my router as I get close to the full 25mbit on a laptop. Thought it might be a firmware problem so I flashed the M8 with the latest radioman mbox rom V5 and still had the same problem. Could this be a hardware issue (the 2 boxes were from 2 different places). All speed tests were done using the oogla speedtest.net app.

Thanks for the info. Reading the thread for radiomans rom and didn't see many mentions of wifi being slow.
If it's not a hardware issue then I can try other firmwares, was thinking of trying out finless latest or your 1.6 (couldn't find info on this wake me scottie app so, I don't want to go for the 1.6b)

I had problems with wifi fitted an external antenna problems gone. The excuse for an antenna in the box is a joke.

Is this hard to do? Do you get faster internet on this device after doing this mod? Please share method and where you got the antenna and what tipe. Thanks.

Those boxes are rubbish for WiFi, I'd use an Ethernet power line plug if you can't connect direct to your router.

Been connected to my router directly using enet myself, was trying to figure it out for a friend (M8N is our box, M8 is friend's box). What I've found though, even though the speedtest.net app shows slow speeds on WiFi, when streaming videos over wifi there's no lag or buffering issue (unless the video is streaming from a crappy server).
