    TWRP for MXIII

    Hi i wanna take a back up image of my MXIII using twrp.

    I've seen the below link for twrp

    I've chosen the appropriate one for my device as I'm in firmware 112k and downloaded the zip file but I can't seem to boot into TWRP.

    I have tried to put the zip file in the root of the sd and boot but no joy, I've extracted the zip to a folder and put it in the root but again no joy and I've tried to put a recovery. IMG file from the 112k firmware upgrade on the sd but no joy.

    The device is rooted so I use an app to boot into recovery, each time the box restarts and then gets stuck on the Google tv logo screen.

    I must be doing something wrong but not sure what .

    Help please

      Press the reset button
      if [ $up.post.type = $type.two.lazy.to_use_google ] || [ $up.post.type = $type.silly_question ];
      then mv $user.contact.up.post /.trash; set response($response.type = ignore);
      $user.up.post.ignore_in_future = true; fi;

        What do you mean press the reset button

        I've tried the method of pressing the reset button as I power on and I've used quick boot to boot into recovery and both times I only get the Google tv logo

          I believe last stock recovery's since 111k4, are broken. Use TWRP or a recovery from Bob's rom.

          Place on root of externalSD with the name of recovery.img, disconnect power and USB cable from the box, press and hold reset button and power it up, until recovery boots. Around 10 seconds until boot.

              just to confirm in order to just use TWRP so that i can take an image all i need to do is place the twrp.img file from Bobs rom onto the sd card, rename it recovery.img and then do the reboot recovery process or I could use the reboot app??

                Im on 112k4 Stock, and TWRP_s82b.zip for 109k4 works perfect for me.

                PLace the Recovery.img on ROOT of SD card along with the ZIP, Fullypower down the box (unplug) Toothpick into AV, Power cable back to box, power up (keep holding in button in av), you should now of booted into TWRP, if so and want to keep it, flash it using TWRP.

                  It may be important fact to point out exactly which version of the MXIII you have.
                  As only the S82 (2G/8G) Units are capable of currently using any TWRP you may find for it [MXIII]

                  The 1G/8G Units are not supported and as such we're SOL at the moment. I did post a link to download the 109k4 from my personal Google Drive Account on the Amlogic TWRP Thread. I used that particular version, 'cause unlike the newer Firmwares which (according to abdul_pt), are "broken".
                  My guess is their just the AiO version which probably makes it a moving target. Since that 109k4 was only ever meant for the 1G/8G AP-6181 version of the MXIII. My hope is that Mr abdul_pt may work his magic on it to also give us a working TWRP. But since the Partition Layout is completely different to the 2G/8G Version (Duh!), the TWRP Recoveries that currently exist, on this Site. Will NOT work on the lower speced Systems.

                  Speaking as an M82 (1G/8G - AP6181 MXIII), owner.... I've never had a problem with the Stock recovery EVER!

                  Since I've picked mine up last October, a few others in my Family have done the same, and have also gotten this Box. The only difference between the Two Boxes are that on mine you press, then hold the Reset Button before you turn on the Device... Google TV Screen shows up, then you release the Reset Button, and a moment latter you get to the 3e Recovery. With its dead Robot?! (Surly it should be standing?!)

                  On my Fathers MXIII.... Though you have to press, and hold the Reset Switch before, and during the whole Google TV Screen, or else it'll boot like normal, and never get to the 3e Recovery.

                      looks like i was using the wrong recovery.img file

                      as a noob i didnt realise that the recovery.img file is specific to the diff chipsets so i may have been using the one for the s805 chip set box that i have.

                      i also didnt realise that when a screen came up with the android robot on his back and some options that this was the stock recovery .
                      as i havent used stock recovery i thought it was an error.

                      thanks for everyones help

                      now i need to just test that taking an image and restoring it works properly
                      any tips will be appreciated.

                      cheers bart
