I do not have the OTT M8. But in the box I do have(UT3), the A/V jack does output audio and video. Is yours not doing that?

Yep HDMI is fine but I need to use the AV port for the TV in the computer room,so i can play around with stuff, without bothering the other half lol,

According to a review I found online it should auto choose the AV if the HDMI is not plugged in,but no luck yet,

              Thanks for the input

                        No real standards like Red=R, White=L, Yellow=Vid....

Video is supposed to be yellow, but the color of the RCA ends is not necessarily correct. The jack determines what signal gets sent to what conductor on the 3.5mm plug. Generally, a stereo jack will assign the plug this way, starting at the tip... left(or right) audio--right(or left) audio-- with ground(common) being closest to the plug's body. That is for a 3-conductor 3.5mm plug(TRS). A/V cables use a 4-conductor 3.5mm plug(TRRS). The extra conductor is of course for video, however, in my box(Ugoos UT3) the jack assignment, starting at the tip...Video--Left Audio--Right Audio--Ground(common). The A/V cable I had(not supplied with box), was wrong in a variety of ways. It was not long enough to for the tip to reach the 4th conductor in the jack and ground was tied to right audio, left was yellow, white went to the tip. I modded the cable and it works fine. I don't recommend doing it though.
Some users have said, "pulling the plug out a wee bit", made their cable work.
There is no standard on these cables for video. My cable was purchased originally for an old video camera, the same cable would not work on my iPod Video's headphone/A/V jack. Some have 15mm pins(plug face to tip), while others(my UT3) use one that is 18mm. I would think a device that uses a jack designed for a 15mm A/V cable and wants to remain compatible with stereo cables, will have to split the ground section(closest to plug body) into two separate conductors. And assign the jack's ground to the plug's 2nd closest conductor to the plug's body. The extra conductor(video?) will be closest to the plugs body(face). Or vice versa.
I like the way the Wetek box has a jack assignment directly on the case, near the jack.
                        Good luck.

Does the monitor in the computer room have an HDMI input? Also, I have heard HDMI to DVI adapters will work. Some things are difficult to see on our old CRT TV when I play the UT3 through it(same when I run my PC through it). The screen has to be scaled for the picture to be in proportion. Works OK for vids, Hulu and some games. I usually have to pinch-zoom(trackball w/push button scroll wheel) webpages to read them clearly. All things considered, using a CRT TV works in a pinch. But a PC monitor or HDTV is much more enjoyable.....by far.

The monitor in the computer room is an old HD ready TV about 12 years old now lol,it has no HDMI but does have dvi,

but using a HDMI to dvi adaptor it just gives a video mode not supported message when connected,

I only want it to work this way so I can mess around with the box,try different ROMs etc without disturbing swmbo

                            Cheers guys

But I'm not sure how the jack is wired
