    Has Anyone Used This

Walgreens is selling this Polaroid Tablet which is the PMID800 and I can't seem to find any reviews online. It also doesn't seem like its a part of the White Line like I thought it was. Has anyone used this tablet before?Click image for larger version

It has a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, an 8inch screen, I believe it has an HDMI out port, it comes with Android 4.0, a front facing camera, and I believe that's it.

This looks just like S.T.'s PTAB8000 - they don't even have any listing for a PMID800 (though they are fond of selling the same product under different names).

Unless it has 1gb of memory and you're specifically looking for a mid-sized tablet with a 4x3 screen, I'd skip it due to price. If there are any in your area, check out Big Lots, the retailer of choice here in the Polaroid forum

Sadly it only has 512MB of DDR3 memory but I looked into Big Lots and they seem to have some good deals there. Walmart has some even better ones but they're mostly 7 inches. I'll see what is the best choice for me. Thanks for the help guys.

The tablet now offers 4GB of internal memory, a front and back facing camera, 1GB RAM, and supports 3D gaming. Right its on sale at Walgreens for only $89.99 and there are rumors that it will be reduced to $60 for Black Friday. It seems to be an excellent deal.

The one that I saw says it has 512 MB of RAM and its supposed to have 8GB of memory but I might need to recheck that. If it is reduced to that price for Black Friday then I will surely be picking it up.

S.T. has posted the user manual for this one. If it's accurate then the PMID800 has: 512mb RAM, 4gb NAND, front-facing camera (only), HDMI, one mini & one full-sized USB port, a Home button and no volume buttons. It's a 4x3 form-factor screen running at 800x600.

I'd be interested in it at the prices mentioned but for one thing. The Polaroid PTAB8000 (which may or may not be the same tablet) uses an AMLOGIC 8726M rather than an Allwinner A10 or A13 like all(?) the other Polaroids. If so, custom ROMs and chip-specific assistance will probably be hard to come by in this forum.

Wow! That would be a huge problem. How can I make sure which CPU it has? All the display says is that it has a Cortex A8 CPU and a Mali GPU.

UPDATE: It seems like Walgreens is selling a more up to date tablet with the same product number but with 8GB of memory and 1GB of RAM and a Cortex A9 processor.

If it's a Cortex A9, then it's most likely the AM8726-M3. There isn't a lot of authoritative info available but it appears to give slightly poorer performance (particularly in the GPU) than the Allwinner A10. Still, a lot of tabs were built around it, so there's sure to be plenty of 3rd-party support for mods and tweaks out there.

One thing to watch out for: from what I read, many tabs that use this "1 ghz" processor actually run at 800 mhz. If the tab is rooted, the first thing I'd want to do is run 'dmesg' and look at the top of the report where it identifies the chip and clockspeed.

To be honest, Walgreen's has no idea what they're selling. If you look in the overview section of the product description, you'll see that it only has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, 800 x 600 resolution, and 1 camera. But, if you look at the the product description, it has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, 800 x 480 resolution, 2 cameras. The internet doesn't help clarify things either. On some sights the tablet has 1 camera, but, on other sights it has 2. Polaroid doesn't even acknowledge it on the company website leaving me to wonder just what true about this tablet.
