Not seeing the full 8GB NAND Flash

Hi

Can any someone explain why I'm not seeing the full 8GB of nand flash but I see the full 2GB of RAM?
I only see 4GB when looking in settings under storage.

The rest is used up by the Android operating system.
The operating system can't operate on air, also needs about 2GB space.
Yes, 1-4GB is about the most you will see for a 8GB device.
That is for userdata, eg. apps.
Then there is another about 2GB empty space where you can move files too, but not install apps to called user partition or nand.
If more space is used for userdata less is available to user partition and vise versa.

I put together a blog post on this topic last year. If anyone has the time, could they let me know if it still accurate enough with KitKat ROMs? Was/am I right about NAND storage and /mnt/sdcard ?

do you know anyway to merge the Nand storage with the internal storage?
or
atleast increase the size of one while obviously decreasing the size of the other?

Ive been tinkering round with a rom for the Q7 which is coming along nicely but this split/partition in the internal storage is annoying me. right now am stuck with 2gb/6gb split

i know it can be done as Wassers rom does it, just dont know how
